Ben Watson hasn’t been moving much like a 12-year veteran this summer.
Watson has instead been a favored target in the workouts open to the media, working both over the middle and over the top of the secondary for big catches — albeit in the padless sessions that make up organized team activities. Now 34, Watson, who has kept himself in impressive shape, believes he still has the speed to stretch the field. “If I didn’t, I wouldn’t still be playing,” he said. Solid vet. Won't hurt the club. Block and move the chains.

Watson is the main reason why Payton felt Graham was expendable. Watson is much more than simply a "solid vet" and a player that "won't hurt the club". I have been a huge fan of Watson's for years, made easier by the fact that he rarely faced the Saints, and was overjoyed when he joined the Saints. He is a true playmaker that has been underutilized his entire career. I expect he'll get around 75 catches for 800 yards and 8 TD's.

I believe that quite a few folks have the causality backwards. Specifically the belief that when the Saints run the ball (cause), that they win games (effect). The reality that has been shown time and time again is that when the Saints are winning a football game, they run the ball. But it's the winning of the football game that comes first. And typically to put the team in a winning position, they throw the ball. I know that I've seen several games where when the team is leading by 10+ points in the 4th quarter, they simply pound the ball into submission. How many times have you seen that same behavior in the 1st quarter? Multiple sets, multiple packages, and throwing the ball is the Payton Saints offensive DNA. It's a philosophy that has won the team a bunch of games and a championship (in conjunction with some other elements). That philosophy is not going anywhere. Mark my words in 2015: throw to get the lead, run to secure the win. SFIAH |

That happens, SFIAH and you can mark my words - Drew Brees will be the league MVP in 2016.

Drew will go deep early to open up the middle and swing passes later.

I've repeatedly accuses people around here of underestimating this guy. He is one of the best all around TEs. If your TE helps you run the ball, it can become real easy to get open for him.
