This is now a mute issue. Sounds like the City and all those that want the symbols removed are now going to cash in on slavery yet again. So much for complaining about old wounds. time to make us some money

Slave ship museum? wth is going on down there

I would think if adding Slavery attractions to the tourist industry would only be accented even more things like Lee Circle. The whole story is told.

Hypocrisy taken to the extreme.

If this does not get you a legal reason to block any and all removals of civil war veterans I do not know what would.

Inclusion is better than subtraction when dealing with equality. lawyers hate it but the truth is plain to see

You can buy flags at any number of places and can fly it freely on your property without any repercussion from the law or goverment.

So you're telling me that a baker has the right to NOT make a wedding cake for a gay couple? You're also telling me that a pastor doesn't have to marry a gay couple? That individual States can choose not to allow gay marriage?

Seeing how the federal government is making people do the above, I'd say personal preogative and freedom is being taken away from the people.

I may be off base, but isn't that the type of thing that started the Revolutionary and Civil War? States being able to govern their own laws.

Those first two examples are totally unlike the third. If a baker doesn't want to serve a customer or a pastor does not want to marry a gay couple, that's entirely a matter for them as private individuals. They can presumably choose to do (or not do) the same for African-Americans, Hispanics or Jews. Probably not great PR or good for business though.

Your third example queries whether a State can enact legislation to override federal law and discriminate against an entire class of people by denying them the ability to enter into the contract of marriage. In fact, I don't really understand your point.

I think we can all agree that Junior Galette is a d*ck though.

... "racist" is old-school/outdated anyway ... the new vernacular being bandied about is "white supremacist" ,.
