Study Says Saints Fans are Eighth Best
2015 NFL Fan Equity Rankings
Manish Tripathi July 8, 2015 For the past three years, we have tried to answer the question of which teams have the “best” fans. “Best” is a funny word that can mean a lot of things but what we are really trying to get at is what team has the most avid, engaged, passionate and supportive fans. The twist is that we are doing this using hard data, and that we are doing it in a very controlled and statistically careful fashion. By hard data we mean data on actual fan behavior. In particular, we are focused on market outcomes like attendance, prices or revenues. A lot of marketing research focused on branding issues relies on things like consumer surveys. This is fine in some ways, but opinion surveys are also problematic. It’s one thing to just say you are a fan of a local team, and quite another to be willing to pay several thousand dollars to purchase a season ticket... Re: Study Says Saints Fans are Eighth Best
I don't care at all about people's opinions on these types of things. But it's pretty funny that any New York team would make the top ten, and hilarious when TWO get in.
Those fan bases along with Philadelphia are the absolute worst in sports. Sure, they bring in the revenue because they're big markets. But all they do is get drunk, boo at anything, and leave. They don't intimidate visiting teams and are only loud in the sense that they are obnoxious and never shut up. People go and play for these teams either because they got drafted and have no choice (other than to hold out) or sign as free agents because they just simply get an offer they can't refuse. And when you're talking about baseball and the Yankees, there is no salary cap and virtually no limit to what they can offer you. Yet their fans think they are somehow special and above all others. It's quite amusing. Aside from those places, it's a highly subjective thing to try to rate fan bases. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Yeah, since when does shelling out money make you a great fan? You want to use hard data try decibals in cheering. Cheering at the right times and for the right things and don't forget the friendliness factor. Try percentage of population who are fans. Using all of these New Orleans is on top for sure.

Re: Study Says Saints Fans are Eighth Best
All I know is the first real "hit" we ever took as Saints fans was when that idiot rip that ball from that woman in the Bengals jersey last season...
Most of my life our family has had visitors from out of town (usually business) that would go to Saints games and inevitably comment that Saints fans were the best they'd ever seen... And that includes guests from Tacoma, Washington who are pretty dedicated Seahawks fans who said that Seahawks fans were 'slightly louder, but the Saints fans were less agressive and showed more class in the stands'... They were also surprised how casual we were about open-carry and how well most people handled themselves... But Saints games are nowhere near as loud as they used to be twenty years ago with the only exception being when the Saints returned to the Superdome post-Katrina... |
