this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I don't get how this helps anything in the future. Besides just keeping a creep out of the locker room. Maybe that's enough though. "By releasing him after June 1, however, the Saints would only have to take a $5.45 ...

I don't get how this helps anything in the future. Besides just keeping a creep out of the locker room. Maybe that's enough though.
"By releasing him after June 1, however, the Saints would only have to take a $5.45 million cap charge in 2015 and could push $12.1 million (for the remaining bonuses) to 2016. If Galette's release is related to off-field behavior, they could try to reclaim some of the money spent on bonuses, or perhaps a portion of his fully guaranteed 2015 salary, but that would likely be met with objections from Galette and the players union."
