Dustin Hopkins and Zach Hocker have been excellent throughout camp and Sunday was another good day for them. Each went for 5 for 5 on field goals, including a pair of 59-yarders under pressure.
Saints head coach Sean Payton put the young kickers on the spot after they made their first four field goals by adding stakes to the competition. If the rookies each made their 59-yarders, Payton said the Saints coaching staff would be required to run gassers after practice. With the entire team watching, both Hopkins then Hocker delivered under pressure, causing Payton to open his post-practice press conference with the question, "Any questions, while I catch my breath." read more here |

long is cool. but the winner must be automatic from the 30 with the new stupid rule change that makes missed extra points not that big of a deal.
Almost no teams will be going for two just for the heck of it, which is what NFL owners hope will happen. |

Cut them both. 2-point conversions all year!
4th and 15? No problem! |

Re: Saints place-kicker competition remains hot
I like it. You have starting kickers in the leauge that don't have the leg strength to hit a 59-yarder.
