Preseason: Saints @ Ravens, Who Looked Good? Who, well, not so much?

Thought these guys had great games:

QB Garret Grayson looks like the real deal, and he's got some swift moves and decisiveness in the pocket...

Saints better find a way to make DT Kaleb Eulls a roster spot...

LB Henry Coley needs more playing time...

Someone forgot to tell RB Khiry Robinson that it's only preseason - man possessed!

WR Willie Snead, okay, now you have my attention; incredible focus to make the catch despite pass holding/interference...

Also, WR Kyle Prater had a nice reception and move after the catch; Colston, Coleman better get their arse on the field...

QB Ryan Griffin settled down after some nerves on the first couple of downs and took command, even if it was against the other kids...

K Dustin Hopkins really has a leg; he's looking good as our kicker...

DT Tyeler Davison showed alot of heart, grit that I liked...

LB Hau'oli Kikaha is slow?!? That was some amazing speed to save a touchdown, even if the Ravens did bust through on DL breakdown on the fourth and goal...

An interception? WTF is that?!? Damian Swann made a nice play on the ball...

and now we seque to what didn't look so good...

For that great play that Swann made, oh those damn penalties he had; liked the agressiveness, know he's a rookie, but da*n...

Maybe it's me, but our team still looks soft, and I think being at the Greenbrier has something to do with being soft...Get those guys back in Thibodaux, in the heat, and sear them up...

Where was Nick Toon? I believe he's gone...

Cam Jordan looked slow, awkward, and more like a 3-4 defensive end!

Cade McCown must be sensing the end is near; Cooks bailed him out against the Ravens two's/three's...

Jahri Evans looked done and Tim Lelito looks like he's thinking too much...

Marcus Murphy looked great!

Multiple kick returns he nearly took the distance and one in particular he was one ankle tackle away from being gone!

Pretty sure he average around 30-35 yards per return.

Half the players that started last night weren't even on the team last year.
The Ravens are a veteran team.
It wasn't as bad as many think. It looked exactly like a veteran team going against a lot of new players.

Most of the Ravens yards early were by check downs and scrambles. I thought our secondary played OK for the most part until Q4.

SJB was probably the most pleasant surprise to me.

Although our defense looked bad, like Danno said many of our players who started were either rookies or were brought in this year. It's hard to put that many first time players together against another teams starters and look good.
What discourages me the most is how we lost the game in the exact same way we lost all those games last year. Giving up a 4th and 20 is inexcusable.
Yes it's only preseason but the "only " preseason theory only applies if you look good in preseason. Having a good preseason does not always mean a great season. On the other hand if you have a poor preseason it is very likely to carry on to the regular season.

I don't like the all out blitz call on 4th and 20.

That is probably the biggest concern to me as well, and nothing else about last night comes as close.

Yes, it was against our last stringers, but it looked eerily similar to 2014.

Everything else was typical pre season.

Re: Preseason: Saints @ Ravens, Who Looked Good? Who, well, not so much?

The first two scoring drives against our 1s was an eye opener. Our starting defense was absolutely rancid. Somebody on chat last night said they should fire Ryan right now. I agree. The defense has been terrible since the last quarter of 2013. Don't forget that they blew every opportunity the O gave us to win home field advantage and very possibly a SB berth.

They've failed miserably.
