Pats starting to see the truth

None of us wants to even think of this anymore ... we had to deal with for years what RG did to the team, and pretty much alone. Im not trying to open old wounds.

But I think its important to know that the Pats fans are getting it now, and working to research the truth of it. Some say "to little to late" but if RG is to be removed fans of different teams need to work together. The Pats fans have always been pretty cool to us, and we share a common love for football.
You only need to search their site for "bountygate" and youll finally see a fanbase thats sorry they did not pay attention. Takes a big man to admit that, and I for one will support them for it. What RG is doing to Brady is ridiculous. What he did to us was criminal. RG needs to be removed.

The League of Dishonorable Gentlemen

My late father impressed upon me the importance of honor. "It is", he said, "the only possession that you carry to your grave". Sadly its importance appears to have declined in subsequent generations, to the state today where honor is not even an afterthought by many of the affluent and influential.

The last 8 months have highlighted just how far the value of honor has fallen, and in particular within the offices of the National Football League and an avaricious coterie of its franchise owners.

The Constitution and By-Laws of the NFL require the Commissioner to be a person of unquestioned integrity. Furthermore the NFL Code of Conduct states:

"... as an employee of the NFL or a member club, you are held to a higher standard and expected to conduct yourself in a way that is responsible, promotes the values upon which the League is based, and is lawful. Persons who fail to live up to this standard of conduct are guilty of conduct detrimental and subject to discipline, even where the conduct itself does not result in conviction of a crime.

The phrase "unquestioned integrity" is, I assume, a catch-all for honesty, fairness, openness, toleration and sincerity. These attributes would also be included in the higher standard of conduct suggested above. And yet these injunctions appear to be continuously ignored by all those who have conducted and supported the bizarre Deflategate prosecution.

The Academies of US Military and the US Air Force embrace a Cadet Honor Code that simply states:
"A cadet will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do."

And it is based on three simple rules of thumb:
Does this action attempt to deceive anyone or allow anyone to be deceived?
Does this action gain or allow the gain of privilege or advantage to which I or someone else would not otherwise be entitled?
Would I be dissatisfied by the outcome if I were on the receiving end of this action?
It is obvious from the disclosures, statements and filings during Deflategate (and for that matter, Bountygate) that the following persons have violated that code of conduct. Goodell, Vincent, Pash, Gardi, Kensil and Blandino to name the most obvious. But (AND ITS A BIG BUT) it also includes those owners (see rules of thumb 2 and 3) who remain steadfast supporters of the continued persecution of the NFLPA and those it represents.

Unfortunately those responsible for administering discipline for such conduct are the very ones guilty of that failure. It is incumbent upon the owners (even the guilty ones) to rectify the obvious conflict of interest and either remove or place in abeyance those officers charged with disciplinary responsibility, until due and fair punishment has been administered.

Until this correction has been completed - the NFL remains a League of Dishonorable Gentlemen.
I feel bad for not paying attention to what happened to Coach Payton in regards to bountygate. Another great coach/player to get railroaded by Goodell. Damn shame.
-OR- they just don't read past the headlines, get an opinion formed and thats the end of it..

example.. I'm just now learning about the screw job bountygate was for the saints, read a couple articles right when it first came out, opinion was formed, that was the end of my interest. Without deflategate and the comparisons I'd have no clue about the NyFL's previous lies like the ledger of bounty’s paid not matching the actual injuries in the game the NyFL claimed it was for.. and not matching the second game the NyFL claimed it was for after people figured out the first was a lie.

I admit if it was the jets or colts or ravens, I'd just read the headlines, and from there not want to read any more about it at all but would take every opportunity to slam that team I could find.. just like they are doing.
The NFL did this BS in Bountygate too. "YES WE HAVE A LEDGER SHOWING ALL THE BOUNTY PAYMENTS MADE FOR SAINTS PLAYERS WHO INJURED PLAYERS ON OPPOSING TEAMS" "ok that sounds damning, show it to us" "WELL WE DON'T HAVE THE LEDGER TO SHOW YOU BUT WE DO HAVE SOME VIDEO OF A PLAYER TALKING ABOUT IT" "ok that's not what you said earlier but that is still pretty damning" "HERE'S THE VIDEO" "that's... that's not what you said it was, there's no evidence in this video at all" "WELL WE KNOW WHAT GAME IT WAS" "...nobody got injured in that game" "OK IT WAS ACTUALLY THIS OTHER GAME" "the only person in that game who got injured tripped over his own feet!" "WELL WE STILL HAVE THAT LEDGER WE TOLD YOU ABOUT, WE JUST AREN'T SHOWING IT TO YOU"

Saints proved that pigs could fly in 2009.
Now its time for another miracle SuperBowl and go where no pig has gone before.

Re: Pats starting to see the truth

Many of us said that until Goodell railroaded some other team, no one would believe that Bountygate was something the league made up to cover for their lack of effort in preventing head injuries. No other team believed it could happen to them. Now that it's happening to a repeat Super Bowl winning team, suddenly everyone is afraid. They need to be. If Goodell remains unchecked, the Saints and the Pats won't be the last teams that are treated this way.

You don't have to think - we know they do. They have been caught doing it.

Funny Im sure they thought the same about us, until they spent time researching and what happend to us. They didnt have to do that. I know we are still mad at every fan of the NFL for how they never listened, and we got berated every day for something that was a completely lie. I get it.
So, are we going to be those fans now ? and not look at the facts ?

We're not being "those" fans, my friend. I know what you're trying to say, and you're right that people shouldn't just take things at face value. But I don't think that's what's happening here.

I personally (as I pointed out earlier in this thread) think this is overblown, and I do believe that the NFL is making up "evidence". I do not, however, believe that the Patriots or Tom Brady are innocent. In looking at the facts, I see that Brady has refused to cooperate in any way. I see a guy bringing a rack of footballs into a bathroom (who does that?) and multiple teams reported under inflated footballs from the Patriots.

Do I think it REALLY matters, as far as determining games? Not really. It's obviously a comfort thing, otherwise there's no reason to do it, but I don't think it's a huge deal. But instead of coming clean, they've been pitiful liars and Goodell hates teams that he perceives to be showing him up... We all know that. So now we have all this rhetoric flying around from the NFL, as they will do anything to make this bigger than it is and try to stick it to 'em. Both sides look really pathetic, in my opinion.

pherein, I posted a thread during the bounty mess about this very thing. How everyone outside of the B&G Nation was all over us about this when they should have been shaking in their collective skins about the power that Goodell was showing and don't thing for a minute that he won't come after your team I don't care who you are. Here's the quote:

"I know a lot of people are sick and tired of all the bounty talk and the bounty posts on here and the media talking about the bounty thing, and so on and so forth. The only thing i'm tired of is reading the same stuff over and over but i'm not going to do like some have suggested, forget about it and move on. The reason for this post is not to beat a dead horse. What i'm sick and tired of is the posts by opposing fans. Now I don't give a rip what opposing fans say because that's just smack talking sports fans and it's to be expected. But the "you guys got caught, take your medicine and move on" or "stop your whining you got caught" or "you got what you deserved because you were warned," etc. is really getting to me because I think opposing fans are missing something very important here. We got caught doing what every other team in the league has been doing for years. We didn't invent the pay for performance in 2009. If we're guilty of anything it's for lying, keeping such diligent records, and not stopping when we were told. So you opposing fans keep hurling your juvenile insults at us but here's what you are not taking into account. Goodel has unprecedented power now. He can pretty much do what he wants without recourse. If I were a Steelers fan or a Lions fan or maybe even a Ravens fan I would be very worried. You think $75000 fines for big hits or 2 game suspensions for stomping on an opponent are excessive. What do you think he's going to do now since he's shown he isn't afraid of suspending coaches and players for a full season with what so far is circumstantial, questionable evidence when he has full video shots of these big hits that we can ALL see unlike this so-called "overwhelming" evidence we have yet to see. Hmmm...Year long suspensions for unseen overwhelming evidence, who knows what for indisputable video evidence. Think about it."

What goes around comes around!

Re: Pats starting to see the truth

It is nice to see an outsider finally pointing out the obvious. With this Brady thing, though, I do think it's a lot about nothing... but I don't think the accusations are wrong. This whole thing has gotten way out of hand because the NFL, as usual, wants to look like they're in control and Brady just keeps lying.

He didn't want to show his phone, and then he destroyed it. I don't want to hear all the excuses as to why he might do that. This really doesn't compare to what the Saints went through. But in the NFL's effort to MAKE evidence after Brady refused to cooperate, people are getting a chance to see how petty the league can be.
