My first game in Person, Saints vs Patriots
Just got back from my first ever game in person for the saints and man, what an experience!
TV has nothing on the real thing, here are a couple things I noticed. Positives - Brandin Cooks, that guy is insanely good, I went completely nuts jumping up and down near my seat when Brees connected with him for the 45 yard TD!! Hau'oli Kikaha - I took the time to spell his name right because that guy can play, and he isn't just a pass rusher, very first play the game he bursts into the backfield and makes the tackle for a 4 yard loss. I watched him closely and he didn't just go for the QB, which allowed him to get in on tackles at the line, I heard some of his hits from my seat, the guy tackles like a freight train. Brees - always cheered to the TV for him, man his feet and eyes are quick in the pocket, the pass to Cooks was place to perfection. Tom Brady - he completed what, 1 pass against our defense with 4 our of starters in the secondary not out there? The starters on defense were playing with great energy, they were hitting and meaning it! The patriots only threw quick passes and the DB's reacted brilliantly, SJB got an absolute bogus PI call, his coverage was incredible , really looks like serious strides have been made. Entire first team Defense was a huge positive, they were hitting, they were physical and that was very nice to see! Negatives Barely any running game, Khiry Robinson made the most of what he could but the O line was struggling with run blocking The backups absolutely collapsed in the final 2 quarters I didn't particularly like any QB not named Brees. Mckown, Griffin and Grayson all had forgettable performances WR's not named Cooks or Snead Josh Morgan made a great catch and then had an idiotic fumble Colston dropped a routine catch at the back of the end zone, went straight through his hands. Doesn't look like himself anymore. Coleman dropped a TD on the first drive Seantavius Jones dropped a TD on the second to last drive Joe Morgan dropped a 2 yard slant and showed why he doesn't run short routes. Whoever #78 is, he is not making the team, missed a sack that turned into the patriots first TD, the play before he hit the RB after the whistle and drew a 15 yard penalty. Pictures myself and my girlfriend took will follow, a huge positive was that with the starters in, we outscored the patriots 21-0. Let me know what you noticed!!! |

Re watch 78 Richardson. Payton was arguing the hit wasn't late and I agree. The missed sack was bittersweet. He practically pancaked his way to the qb but the qb slipped away.
Richardson will be in the starting rotation |

Even if the refs called it a late hit, the hit was pretty sweet! Lol Did you also see the PI called on SJB danno? Quick slant that SJB broke up beautifully, from my view if looked like an absolute BS call, SJB is improving massively! Kikaha and Cooks are beasts!! |

SJB had a handful of jersey on that play. If it was the regular season, it probably doesn't get called.
IMO he had a so-so night. I saw him slow to react most of the time |

we looked better than we did in Baltimore. even the second and third stringers despite the lack of points.
If Rob run a zone defense during the season I hope some one runs out the stands and clocks the guy. My #1 fear is the saints and drop passes still |

The players were flying around and making good tackles, gang tackling was a good thing to see. |
