Maybe the sky is falling news on Drew Brees has been a little pre-emptive...

I think most people forgot about the oblique injury during training camp. I read an article in which Drew says it changed his mechanics, for the worse.

That TD to Cooks was a thing of beauty. I look forward to seeing those types of plays on a regular basis.

After that performance last night, 8 of 10, 2 TD's, one dropped TD, maybe he should just go ahead and retire before he embarrases himself.

I had a great view of the Cooks TD, right behind Brees as he launched the ball.

Of course I went absolutely nuts when Cooks caught it!!

Brees to Cooks was the moment I felt we will be ok this year. They seem to be on the same page and it is a scary page for any defense going against us this year.

I listened to Brees after the game when he was asked about his arm strength. Brees debunked the myth about "arm strength" and said that throwing power and velocity comes from his core - not his arm. He also said that because his core (oblique) was compromised last year, he had to make compensations in his throwing motion, which affected some other things such as accuracy. He went on to say that in the offseason, he went back to the basics and re-tweaked his mechanics to get it back to the way it should be, and it showed last night! I was sitting in the opposite endzone during the 1st qtr, and i couldnt believe how accurate his throws were. Not only that, but eventhough I could see the routes developing from where I sat, it's amazing how calm he is under pressure and how he checks down all of his receivers b4 making his throw.

That's what was sticking out the most to me last season, he looked almost like a startled rabbit. A good O-Line during the regular season should get us back to normal.
