Not to be overly cynical but WTF?
I campaigned for Haslett towards the end of the season in the belief that he could get through to the players. Nothing personal but I'm scratching my head at this stick with the devil you know approach. We tried the consistency approach this year to no avail!!! If we don't make some real moves in FA and hit the jackpot in the draft then i'm going to have to suffer a repeat, didn't he lobby for greater control? If this is what he plans to do with it then I'm going to switch bandwagons, C'mon Jim do something....... |

It\'s the same old, same old. Lot\'s of talk, little action to back that up. They\'re sticking with their time-tested strategy though. When a coordinator leaves, just find some other position coach whose players haven\'t lived up and promote him. Think Sheppard has really gotten the most out of his position? Just like Venturi got so much out of the LBs before Zook left. Now just look at how well that worked out! I can\'t imagine how this team won\'t go undefeated next season! LMAO.

I think the plan is for a couple of trades: I\'m thinking howard will be one, and not sure about the other..but I have a couple of ideas.
I\'ve heard/read a couple of rumors about trading up in the draft...that to me sounds like a good idea-IF they get alex smith or derick johnson and keep their later pick. |

I try to keep an open mind and not be overly critical of every decision that is made.
If you want to point out the mistakes that have been made by Haslett and co. and say that\'s the way it\'s always gonna be, then, you might as well give up and just expect more of the same..... With that said, I don\'t see anything that convinces me that we\'ve greatly improved at this point. Mike Sheppard has done okay as an OC in the past. He\'s coached the 13th and 3rd ranked offense in the NFL. And he\'s had a couple of sub-par years. So, I can\'t just write the guy off. Why Venturi is still here, I have no idea. However, there was a change in our defensive scheme over the last 4-games. And, to my amazement, it worked. It was rumored that Haslett and Pease got more involved. Haslett added Jimmy Robinson to assist Venturi and Haslett has said he\'s going to get involved more in the defense. Now, it might not do any good. But, at least I saw a great improvement from the defense at the end of the year. Which is the first time I\'ve EVER seen them play that well. Even the biggest pessimist has to be encouraged by that. I\'m going to see what the Saints do in free-agency. That\'s going to be the measuring stick I use. If they don\'t compete, I don\'t think we\'ll get over the hump. Then there are some things that need to happen with-in our current group of players that could help. Like getting Sully to play and the continued improvement of Courtney Watson, Bockwoldt, and James Allen. And Fakir Brown. And for the first time in many years, we have a stud at cornerback with McKenzie. McKenzie might be the best CB in Saints history. I can\'t think of one we\'ve ever had that was better than McKenzie... |

Haha! Toi Cook and Vince Buck! Those are the good memories. THE DOME PATROL! Maybe if you give our defense a nickname again, they\'ll be half decent.
