The Saints are trading receiver/returner Jalen Saunders to the New England Patriots for a future draft pick, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Schefter said the draft pick is "conditional," which means it could depend on Saunders' performance in 2015.

Do what you have to do but man, all he did was make plays. Good point, at least we got something out of it. Probably going to work out better for him long term going to a good team, not that we are not but come on...who would not want to play for them.

He was not going to make the team as a wr and he was made obsolete by murphy's play in the return game. Even if it's a 7th it's better than nothing.

I'm all for keeping Murphy instead, but didn't Saunders do a better job returning?

I think Saunders were a better pure returner but he would never be better than the 7th WR on the team. Murphy might be the 4th RB which we usually use a lot more.

Murphy beat him out and we are getting something for him. I had high hopes for Saunders but I am happy to see Murphy get the job. He's a true return man.

This is the kind of proactive maneuvering I like to see from our front office...

Sure it's a conditional seventh round pick, but if Belichick traded for him, he'll play...

And he'll probably be All-World for the Pats...

But at least we're getting something and we seem to have done pretty good with seventh round picks...

He might be good for them and that would be good for us. The more choices in the draft the better. Might be more ammo to trade up or to unearth another gem down the line.

Pats needed a returner. Gave up a 7th instead of him hitting the free market after the Saints cut him and possibly choosing another team.
