C.J. Spiller will miss season opener against Arizona
 

New Orleans running back C.J. Spiller will miss the season opener against Arizona, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport.

Spiller underwent a minor arthroscopic procedure on his knee early in training camp, and he’s missed the rest of camp recovering.

Initially, the Saints targeted a Week 1 return, but Rapaport’s report indicates that Spiller needs a little more time. Rapaport also reported that Spiller should be good to go again for the Saints’ home opener against Tampa Bay the next week.

This is the most important thing I'm taking away from that report. Let him get fully healthy and ready to go. I have had arthroscopic surgery on my knee and know from experience that a week can make all the difference in the world when it comes to swelling and comfort.

I would rather he miss the first game and the next couple of games if he needs to!

Better that, than coming back too soon and injuring the knee so that he has to be out for the rest of the season!!!
