Saints Will Receive Chiefs' 3rd Round Pick
Saints general manager Mickey Loomis confirmed to WWL and NOPF's Kenny Wilkerson tonight that the Saints will receive a third round draft pick from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for the 2002 trade of All-Pro left tackle Willie Roaf.
The Saints traded Roaf to the Chiefs in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2003 draft that could be upgraded to a third round pick if Roaf reaches certain performance incentives in the contract. While the exact performance levels aren't known, Roaf started all 16 games for the Chiefs this season at left tackle. The trade clause gives the Saints their fifth selection in the first day of this April's NFL Draft. In addition to their own three, the Saints also own Miami's first round selection, garnered from a performance escalator in the trade clause of Ricky Williams. |
