Did we catch lightning in a bottle, or was it really all about Sean's influence (with a healthy assist from Loomie)?

If you ask me, we're in year two of the second cycle, if you get what I mean. The crazy-over-the-top one year suspension effed things up considerably, not to mention the draft picks, so that's kinda why I see it as year 2 of Sean's second 'master plan'.

Hot seat? I don't think Sean is on or anywhere near the hot seat. I think when he ever does leave New Orleans it will be on his own terms or at worst a mutual agreement to part ways.

He's not old, out of style or out of touch with 'today's' players. He remains one of the top offensive coaches. He has been dealt a hand that he didn't deserve, kept his mouth shut, came back with his head held high and got back to business, but hampered considerably relative to the 31 other HCs.

We whiffed on last year's draft but it sure looks like we scored this year. If we're two years in to the second five year plan we're in very good shape if you ask me.

Now, I'd love to see us win a Super Bowl with Rob Ryan cause he'd be fun to watch, but I question whether we will. Rob's seat is en fuego. Sean's? Not even lukewarm.

Well it was year four that we won the SB, but yeah those were obviously the good times. There should not be a second 5 year plan. When he got here we were a mess. When you build up your team to championship status, it shouldn't fall apart. And it hasn't yet.... But the roster is lazily declining.

I get what you're saying about the suspension year, but that didn't affect the talent on the field. I'm becoming a broken record with this statement but, as I've said, I'm more concerned about the management of this team than I am of Payton's coaching. Just not crazy about the personnel decisions. But it does appear, at least for now, that this latest draft went okay. I haven't seen anything out of the first two picks to get excited about, but hopefully they come around, too.

Edit: I should add that I did like the signing's of Spiller and Browner. It's just unfortunate they have been injured.

Bill Parcells needs to do a Intervention with him for sure. Loomis might wanna sit down to it himself

The seat should be on fire.

Can we change this to a "Sean Payton should be fired" thread?

Lot's of people could see the potential for this team to go either way. But your question in this thread was how hot is Payton's seat. I know I said somewhere in here that it SHOULD be hot if this season goes awry, but history has told us that Payton is pretty much invincible under Benson.

I would imagine there is a limit, somewhere in Benson's mind, but I'm not sure what it would take. More than likely, Payton will only leave on his own terms. Watching this team right now, my mood is moving from critical the past couple seasons to being pretty sick of this crap from Payton/Loomis.

I got in some pretty intense arguments about this since last year with some people, when it shouldn't have been an issue. But some people just wanted to live on the SB win forever, and couldn't listen to any dissenting opinion. Those people know who they are.

It's not fun to talk about this stuff, but it is what it is and you can either accept it or lie to yourself. What I hate is people saying we're not real fans when we speak critically. If being a "real" fan means being a fake person, then people can have their superfan awards. I don't need any of that crap.

The signing made sense to me at the time. He just hasn't come ready to play at all. I'm already tired of his crap.

Amen brother 100% agree with this entire post
Get sick and tired of people calling people a idiot, moron, or non fan because you don't see everything through the black and gold specs
