Re: My positive Paulie take on things

I'll give my take on the game and both sides of the ball.

Offensively - As stated many times our play calling was suspect. I am not sure the fascination with the screens but they became very predictable. We played a top 5 defense and struggled against it. I thought pass protection was very good. It was our receivers who couldn't get the separation they needed. Robinson and Ingram ran with spark even when the holes didn't exist. Against a bad defense I think it looks a lot better.

Defensively - I was impressed with the effort and production of Jordan and Kikaha. Williams was solid in the middle but Hicks and Jenkins were non-existent. It said volumes when Davison and Richardson are in on key downs late in the game. Anthony played well as did Swann. They stood out. Other than that I don't think I heard a back 7 player be named for a good reason. Breaux's pick was overshadowed by all of the penalties and times he was playing catch up to the game which I expected alot of our young players to do so he gets a pass. Overall I thought our defense did enough to get us a win.

I expected we would drop this game and it played out pretty much what I figured. Tough, well coached team at home and I figured we would hang around and keep it close and lose a tight game.

Apparently not because if anyone comes on here and the first thing they say was horrible is defense has to be a moron! Once again our offense had the chance to win the freakin game and once again come up empty handed. We're gonna miss jg. Hell i miss him already. JG got a td pass today how many did our te's get? Um not a mutha lovin thang!

Offense isnt perfect but your " once again" statement baffles me. Our offense has played better than pretty much 30 other teams in the NFL for the last 9 years and 31 other teams in the league several times. Its just math dude. No offense in the history of the game can single handedly win games without some sort of help from the defense which is more than what we have had. We won a Superbowl with one of the worst defenses in the league (25th) The only good thing about the 09 defense was take aways. And why are take aways important?? Because it puts the ball back in the hands of the offense.

I think a lot of the fans that want to blame the offense are younger and have come up watching football since the high powered offenses came to pass and are just spoiled because there arent big plays every down. The older posters know the importance of a good defense and balance.

I don't see how you can blame Brees for any of what happened yesterday. If the receivers had caught half of the balls that hit them in the hands we would have won.

Seriously, they must have dropped 10 passes.

dayum dude are you so illiterate or do you just like the sight of your own fonts. I DID NOT BLAME THE LOST ON THE DEFENSE! Just admitt you jump to a conclusion, so quick to defend something that don't need to be defended

Drew didn't look any different , except for he didn't want to turn the ball over took really safe throws but maybe that's because we only have 1 vertical threat, I say give Murphy some offensive touches I feel the defense would have to respect him more on a screen than Ingram who missed that wheel route he's not a receiving back

Just like yesterday. Our defense held a damn good offense at home to fg's pretty much the entire game. I saw 10-14, I saw 13-14, 13-14, 13-14 13-17, 13-17, 13-17, 16-17, 16-20, 16-20, 16-23, 16-23, 19-23, 19-23, our defense which mind you have no veteran leadership, with no name corners or defensive lineman, stopped the cardinals in the MOST CRUCIAL PART OF THE GAME 4TH QTR WITH 3 MINS LEFT IN THE GAME. They put us in a situation to WIN THE GAME. We get the ball with a little over 2 mins left with 2 time outs with a 2 min warning. What do we do? Go once again 3 AND FREAKING OUT! Punts the ball and my question is for what? We're down by 4 pts we need to keep the ball to score on offense to give us a VERY GOOD WIN PERCENTAGE because if we created a drive scores a td the cardinals would only have seconds left to try and get into fg range to beat us. If that scenario happened and our defense let them score with seconds left on the clock I would be like everyone else. I would have blasted the defense for not protecting the lead. But nooooo we never had a lead to protect! Again I'm not saying our defense last year didn't cost us games however, I am saying there were moments in last season where the sants offense could have picked up 1st downs or score to put us in positions to win the game and just like yesterday, COME UP EMPTY HANDED.

Yeah I know the O lost at least 3 games last year, but I am just saying what everyone else is thinking in NO. We are tired of the the bad defenses, and not being able to hold ever.
At least the offense gave us some dominance over 9 years, D has sucked, and the excuses are getting old because we are running out of time.

How grown ups can confuse the meaning between "loss" and "lost" is beyond me.
