New Orleans Saints fall to Arizona Cardinals, 31-19, in season opener

The New Orleans Saints couldn't quite get the job done on Sunday afternoon against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Saints (0-1) trailed by eight points and had the ball with less than two minutes remaining, but, needing 97 yards, the offense sputtered and punted back to the Cardinals on fourth down. On the next drive, Cardinals running back David Johnson caught a short pass from Carson Palmer and raced down the sideline for a 55-yard touchdown to seal a 31-19 win for Arizona at University of Phoenix Stadium.

The Saints have not won a road season opener since 2006 at Cleveland, falling to 1-4 in Week 1 away games under Payton.

Yep, 25 new players and a ton with no playing experience. I think a LOT of our guys have the potential to become very good players. Teams better get us now because I honestly believe they'll improve every single week.

Edit: Some of these PI calls in my opinion were bogus.

Yes the Graham deal is rearing it's ugly head early.
In fact SP reportedly drove through the night and
stood at the empty basketball courts at Community Christian.

I agree with K Major, some questionable PI calls. Also, I don't agree with punt, or understand how payton thinks it would have been "aggressive" to go for it on fourth.

The chances of you getting 6+ yards have to be higher than you getting another three & out. The Cardinals had been averaging nearly 5 yards per carry all game on our D.

Yo K I agree on the PI calls. Breaux did not interfere with Brown in the end zone for sure.
