Vikings deal comes closer to finish...bad news for us
I saw this headline on the CBS website: Benson losing battle of public opinion
It\'s from an article in the Biloxi Sun Herald. However, you\'ve got to be a VIP member to see it on the CBS site and I couldn\'t find it on the Sun Herald site. Gumbo, since you\'re from that way, would you pick up a copy and see if there\'s anything new therein? A new perspective even. Thanks Here\'s a link to what cbs has: http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/8151817 [Edited on 11/2/2005 by ScottyRo] |

The question and problem is not LA -- its internal to New Orleans -- Whereas in Minn there is a Minn based group with the bucks to buy the team the same cannot be said about New Orleans. If we cannot come up with a deal and the Saints are bought it will be by an outside investor. As for the comments and questions about LA. How come there is no LA based investors making a play to buy any team -- why are they not lobbying for an exapansion team. Those that said LA doesn;t care are correct -- Only TV and the NFL really cares.

Hold on now..there are big time investors...what they are wanting to do..is First...get the state of the art new stadium, and plans are allready underway for that....and these guys have major money...I\'m talking Forbes top 20...that kind of money....and..the NFL really desires for L.A. to be a two team market...like NY...
So ..even if tommorow , there was an expansion team brought in..we\'re still not clear from danger... And..the owners unanimously voted out bringing in an expansion right now... http://www.dailynews.com/Stories/0,1...693494,00.html One of the likeliest candidates for relocation is the New Orleans Saints, who have an out in their lease after the 2005 season. The Saints are in discussions with the state of Louisiana over renovations at the Superdome. The current lease calls for the state to pay the Saints $187 million over a 10-year period, but the state is struggling to make those payments. \"We\'re in serious negotiations, but we\'ve got a lot of problems,\" Saints owner Tom Benson said. \"We\'re in a small market and the city and the state know that we can\'t survive without their help. \"When (the current lease) was signed, people felt like if we couldn\'t work out a permanent solution, it would be best to leave. We\'re at the point where there\'s either going to be a permanent The threat is very real guys... |

Doesn\'t this sound awfully close to Sprewell saying he couldn\'t live off 10 mil per year cause \"he had to feed his family?\"

I personally don\'t this LA is gonna do well. The fans are great as long as you are winning. If not, they would rather go to the beach. Too much to do besides football.
