It appears Payton & Loomis think too highly of themselves. The Pats can do what they do because they know what they are doing. Payton & Loomis haven't earned it yet. Unfortunately that has become painfully obvious.

Since our owner spends his time in litigation these days, he probably hasn't been paying much attention to the team. I don't think he is capable of making decisions to pull us out of the fire. We can't count on Loomis who is part of the problem. Who's left? We might be in this mess a long time to come.
I doubt Benson has ever had enough football knowledge to make a decision that would help the Saints.

This sounds amazingly like what was being posted in 2008. Back then though it took more than two games before we got to this point.

Hill did show some promise late last season, not that he is even close to replacing Graham. Moreover, where is Watson also?

To me, the part of the article I liked was
Rumors of Brees' demise are exaggerated and premature. He is the youngest of the "Big Three" future Hall of Fame quarterbacks in his age group: Brees is 36, while Tom Brady is 38 and Peyton Manning is 39. He takes great care of himself and has the complete support of his coach.
Some perspective for the Brees is a has been .

I disagree with the irreversible part.
As long as there is breath there is a chance.
The left side of the O-line looks fine.
The Strief side is what Brees is seeing constantly and
fogging up all he sees even when looking down field.
Tunnel vision is wonderful when the QB has no worries but when there
is all kinds of commotion in his face, it's hard to walk through progressions.
Brees is running through his progressions and guys aren't getting separation anyway.
I read where Strief apologized so hopefully he's ready and will make it right.
Running the football is where me a SP fall out.
I think it is and has been his word-only commitment to the run game that has been the problem.
He gives up way too soon. The Brees success factor has not help that aspect of the game at all.
There are issues, but I don't think any of them are beyond repair.

However, we will most likely give him an incredible extension.
RG (Evans) and RT (Strief) right? The young guys are on the left side.

strief, if you se whats going on with him is he beats out anyone trying to replace him in camp, then he gets pummeled during games at times. coaches back him like no other. that's M.O.anyway.

Nobody that knew anything ever talked up Hill. A few talking heads assumed he would be the man, but anyone with half a ounce of knowledge would know that Ben Watson is far better than Hill will ever be.

Re: New Orleans Saints in irreversible decline? Sean Payton's plight

Well written article and well analyzed by Brian Billick. So, this is why the NFL network hired him.

Normally, on TV he offers mostly cliches. Couldn't stand hearing his "insights" during the draft...couldn't wait til he stopped speaking so someone else could chime in.

Better writer and coach than TV pudit, maybe. Wonder if our front office will take heed.
