There are always sign and trade deals to work around the cap issues.
A team may have all the ingredients for a run except a QB like Brees. Buffalo and Houston come to mind right away.
Brees has about 2 or 3 years left, which may be attractive for a team that needs a SB QB for 2 or 3 seasons.

My hope is that he stays here, we address the few holes we have and make a run at it.

That's exactly how I feel. We have to quit offering all this big money to people, trading or cutting them and then eating the cap money.
