Re: How many more games before Rob Ryan is fired?

Too many people to blame here. It's not just on Loomis because of bad contracts. He is getting input guaranteed from Payton and Ryan on free agents and re-signings. Guaranteed all 3 played a part if hand picking Byrd as a missing piece and locking up Gallete. And same goes for the defensive drafts. I would be certain all 3 signed off on each pick and every free agent we brought on board.

It's as much Payton and Loomis's fault as Ryan's. They all share in the disaster that is our defense. He looked like a savior coming in and unleashing a defense that was misused and stifled in Spags scheme but the lack of talent and discipline quickly overcame the enthusiasm and momentum.

I don't think he gets fired until season end and I can fully see Payton walking away, Loomis getting let go and the whole front office going in another direction. Not because Benson demands it but just via attrition of these guys.

Hard to cover with no pass rush.
3 seconds OK. 6 seconds is nearly impossible.
They won't quit mid-stream. Ryan's safe until the end of the season.
If they fired him, whoever comes behind him would still be managing 4-3 with no pass rush.
Ryan will have to shoulder the load until season end. Then he's justifiably gone.
If he gets middle of the road performance out of them, he keeps his job.
Personnel is a joint decision. They ALL are living with a working through the poor performance.
The easy out would be to fire Ryan.
The best out is to draft/FA some players that can play.
The million dollar question is where do we get the money?
The follow-up question is, If we're broke, why aren't we seeing our monies worth?

We've got more than enough talent on defense to not finish dead F'ing last.

I think we need to cut him some slack until we have our full roster on the field. Our defense is made up of backups, rookies, and players who werent here last year yet they still manage to improve in certain areas. A good lineman takes a little time to develop and I think we are ok at secondary if we can get a pass rush. The talent level is just not there yet. We get Lewis and Byrd back healthy and its going to help.

What has he done to be given this much slack?

1 good year, 1 bad year.

This is his last chance. If our defense still sucks at year's end, he's gone and I say good riddance.

This team often gets up and plays better for the prime-time national games under Payton. I have a feeling we will play/coach our A-games and get a convincing win over Dallas to cool the hot coaching seats. Then next week we will be back to a lower profile game and the same suckage we've been witnessing.

Probably should have got the message from Cleveland & Dallas.

2000–2003 New England Patriots (Linebackers)
2004–2008 Oakland Raiders (Defensive Coordinator)
2009–2010 Cleveland Browns(Defensive Coordinator)
2011–2012 Dallas Cowboys(Defensive Coordinator)

2013–present New Orleans Saints(Defensive Coordinator)
Questionable Title
