Re: Saints restructure Drew Brees deal, push more cap hit to future
That is a red flag to me, why are they willing to push Brees's already huge cap next year up, unless they are planning on not having to deal with it?

Sounds like the real theme for 2015 should be "Punt"!!

Re: Saints restructure Drew Brees deal, push more cap hit to future
I just saw on ESPN where Drews hit is 30 million next year. Lets you know he will play out his contract in N.O. If we release him we will have about 23 million in dead money and no way some one will trade for a 30 million QB not named Luck.

I don't care if it was Julio Jones going to the O this D want hold. We need a disruptive NT to make this season even salvagable.

Re: Saints restructure Drew Brees deal, push more cap hit to future
Maybe, maybe we're doing an early extension for Armstead?
There is no outside veteran that I'd want to bring into this team (okay, maybe J.J. Watt, Khalil Mack or Calvin Johnson - that's it and not going to happen)... Want to see us get, stay younger and build through the draft, UDRFA and occasional FA with cap friendly number... |

2014: 85 catches • 1,133 yards • 13.3 ypc • 10 TD's Jeffrey has already shown what he is. Toon never showed that kind of ability. The Bears are considering trades for anybody at this point. I'd say forget the draft. You trade for Jeffrey. You sign Hakeem Nicks. You now have the likes of Jeffrey and Nicks on the outside with Cooks in the slot. You use Colston in a pass catching TE role. Willie Snead and Brandon Coleman are serviceable rotation men. You just fixed the lack of weapons on offense. Defensively, you trade what you have to for a pass rusher, and whether it's a 4-3 or a 3-4 guy you adjust accordingly. How does Muhammad Wilkerson and Cam Jordan sound on the ends, and you bump Hicks down to NT? I guarantee those blitzes will start to get through more often. These are desperate times. Call the John Abraham's. We have to pressure the QB to make our press corners more effective. Wilkerson would completely change this defense in a good way, especially when we have Byrd and Lewis back. |
Re: Saints restructure Drew Brees deal, push more cap hit to future
Alshon Jeffrey is a quitter and he only plays when the matchups are favorable - No Thanks...

Re: Saints restructure Drew Brees deal, push more cap hit to future
I don't like it...
Doesn't matter who we get it's just another poor salary cap move that will hurt the team's future. Used to have a lot of faith in Loomis but that was misguided by his ability to kick the can down the road. Now with all of the blunders recently with poor signings and poor contract extensions if it doesn't work this team will A) get blown to pieces next year and rebuild for 5 years or B) try again with the same cast of clowns forcing the team to be irrelevant for 10 years. |
