this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Anyone know if we spent this on the new TE? Or is it for a future move?...

Re: Cap savings
I thought AG posted on another thread that the roster move saved 100K, so pretty much a lateral move on the surface.

Re: Cap savings
I think it's way more, close to 1 million as Hicks' contract was 1.6 and HoHo's is like 600k or something.

Re: Cap savings
Hicks' 2015 cap hit - $1,259,588
Hoo's 2015 cap hit - $946,324 So it nets the Saints cap $313,264 for 2015. Not much, but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. |

Re: Cap savings
I think we knew 3 things...
1. Hicks was gonna be gone next year via free-agency. 2. What we current have is just as good or better than Hicks, and cheaper. 3. Its better to get something for him than nothing, which is apparently what we were getting from him so far this year... nothing! |

Re: Cap savings
Hopefully we get another target that can maybe block with Michael Hoomanawanu.

Re: Cap savings
I'm not so sure Hagan repectfully, I maybe wrong but with Kelemete looking much better than Evans has so far and Lelito improving this guy can chip DE's and actually block. We might be going after an actual run game, play action style. I would like to see us use a single back set more with some draw plays to keep their D's in check and this also would freeze the D for a slow TE to slip out on occasion. More wishful thinking on my part than anything.
