Yea I loved how people in the chat were calling to put Luke in after that first drive. He is still hurt no doubt but still better than 90% of QBs out there. I don't see that there is any way we can find a better QB within the next two years. It's time to start thinking of the future but we aren't there yet.

Re: We need to trade Brees now!
I thought it was a mistake to play Brees. Dallas is all banged up and we barely won the game. Good yard stick to see where we really are. So lucky for the drops by Dallas AlaskaSaints is spot on. We were just lucky and don't have much of a chance when we play a good team. I still think Brees is about done but I am grateful for what he has accomplished for us. It is not a good time for us we are going to have to let the players mature and try and get some more good players. I hate to say it but we have to rebuild. I do blame management for not making good choices that could have kept us competitive like Green Bay and New England are able to do year after year.

Re: We need to trade Brees now!
Drew just needs a new play-caller and our offense could roll.
Is it any wonder why we seem to play better in 2min drill/hurry up offense? Payton isn't calling the plays... |

And the rest of the time we seem to have no rhythm with Payton pulling cutesy yet predictable crap out of the playbook that everyone sees coming. Rob Ryan also needs to dumb down, it seems like we throw all these different looks out there, where we would be better served calling more standard looking defenses with coverage disguises. |

Re: We need to trade Brees now!
Brees admittedly is not 100%, some of his throws were suspect and thankfully the Dallas defense can't catch, but his will to win cannot be replaced.

Secondly, where have you been the last couple of years? The Saints have been in a major rebuild mode. Hell, there are EIGHT rookies on the defense alone. Yes, there have been a few unfortunate pickups, but nothing more drastic than those on most every other franchise. Oh, and the ongoing rebuild included bringing in Ireland and axing several player evaluation personnel from the front office. Lastly, the first of the three so called lucky breaks on Brees passes was tipped at the line. The ball was deflected into an end over end trajectory that was nowhere near the target. Yes, it was lucky the pass wasn't picked, but that was not on Brees at all. I'm sure giving blame is more enjoyable for some of you, but give credit where credit is due. Once again, Brees was constantly under pressure and was still able to find the open man and make all the throws when needed. I'm not ready to be a fan of a 3-13, 4-12 team again and that's exactly where we will be whenever Brees decides to call it quits. |

Re: We need to trade Brees now!
Rodgers was handed the keys to Green Bay loaded with a great O-line, WR's, TE.'s and RB.'s. They draft extreamly well and til' today have good depth. Brady took the reigns when Bleadso got hurt and has had "The Hoodie" build great teams around his ability. Saints haven't drafted well and have little to no depth at any position, those teams have rebuilt. Saints have a long, long way to go to be stacked as good as those guys.

As for the Packers pre-Favre years, they only had ONE season with over eight wins in 20 years! The first year Rodgers took over he only managed six wins so it wasn't the depth of talent. Once Rodgers got his feet under him he has been the sole reason the Packers have remained viable. QB's like Brady, Favre, Rodgers, Brees, Manning, Montana and such are few and far between. You don't cut ties unless you have a Rodgers, a Luck or a Steve Young ready to go in the wings. It may be a decade or more before the Saints have a shot at a difference maker like Brees. It doesn't matter the makeup of the rest of the roster, if you do not have the QB you are not going to be successful for the long run. |

Re: We need to trade Brees now!
O-line and depth on the O-line, 1 big body WR would be a +. D-line with depth and lb, with depth. It will take 2 seasons worth of draft to do this. So which leaves the question which side firsr theO or the D. And this depends on the draft picks. What a mess.
