Rodgers was handed the keys to Green Bay loaded with a great O-line, WR's, TE.'s and RB.'s. They draft extreamly well and til' today have good depth. Brady took the reigns when Bleadso got hurt and has had "The Hoodie" build great teams around his ability. Saints haven't drafted well and have little to no depth at any position, those teams have rebuilt. Saints have a long, long way to go to be stacked as good as those guys.

I think the defensive positions we drafted for in 2014 will make us more successful in a couple seasons time, however we need to address O line and WR next draft.

I agree, but this year's draft appears to be very good. And before Brady's first full season at QB, the Patriots only had FOUR winning seasons over the previous 12 years. They were one of the worst franchises over that stretch.

As for the Packers pre-Favre years, they only had ONE season with over eight wins in 20 years! The first year Rodgers took over he only managed six wins so it wasn't the depth of talent. Once Rodgers got his feet under him he has been the sole reason the Packers have remained viable.

QB's like Brady, Favre, Rodgers, Brees, Manning, Montana and such are few and far between. You don't cut ties unless you have a Rodgers, a Luck or a Steve Young ready to go in the wings. It may be a decade or more before the Saints have a shot at a difference maker like Brees. It doesn't matter the makeup of the rest of the roster, if you do not have the QB you are not going to be successful for the long run.

O-line and depth on the O-line, 1 big body WR would be a +. D-line with depth and lb, with depth. It will take 2 seasons worth of draft to do this. So which leaves the question which side firsr theO or the D. And this depends on the draft picks. What a mess.

I agree to a point but is Brees at 30 million worth it if he's not surronded by a stacked deck? Even with a restucture same question, is he worth it without a stacked deck? Or do we pull a Green Bay or San Fran and get the picks. I haven't seen Grayson enough to take the keys and run with it but you got to look at Rodgers and what they did with him, sat until Favre left.Brees does give us the better chance right now but he's not surronded by the best cast of characters right now either.

Go back to the 13 - 3 SB year and tell me how many "lucky" wins were in there? I know, good teams make their own luck but you can't deny it's better to be lucky and good. Oh yes I know it wasn't a "quality" win! LOL Damned if you don't, damned if you do! A win is a win. Did anyone else notice the FA kicker from Tulane was 7 for 7?

we will see

I for one say let him walk off the field and into the Hall as a saints

on the other hand

If he spends his last few years getting beat up I say let him go and trade him to a team that is a heart beat away from a super bowl. Some one posted earlier about the Jets. Last year of his contract makes it a bit more sense able for teams in the market. pipe dream value? 3 firsts maybe 2016 2017 2018? Besides if Drew is the answer in NY those last two could very well be #32 in the draft. with out drew we would be top ten it a few years so it would end up being picks 32 and 33. lets see the saints the saints screw that up.

As a fan of Drew I would rather see him chasing rings in final years than getting beat up over loyalty.

The Patriots went to the super in '96 and made the playoffs in '97 and '98. They were a .500 team in '99 before finally having a bad year in 2000. That's not what I call one of the worst franchises of that time. As for Favre, yes he was a good player, but Mike Holmgren was a pretty good coach who got that franchise turned around. He managed to take Seattle to the SB with freaking Matt Hasselbeck.

It takes good QB to be able to sustain success, but it also takes good coaching to get the most out of your team.

As for Drew, I don't know that he's still one of the elite QB's until I see him get healthy. Right now, he is not elite. Sure we won a game last night, but we weren't really playing world beaters, and it was short passes until late.

You can get away with that when you're playing a banged up team. In order for us to be a good team, he has to be healthy and make ALL the throws. Just my opinion.
