Drew Brees saved the New Orleans Saints from themselves Sunday night.

Battling the aftereffects of a bruised rotator cuff, the franchise quarterback who has won so many games for the Saints was asked to win the same game twice.

Brees responded both times with the kind of throws that have made him a legend, finally burying the Dallas Cowboys 26-20 on an 80-yard touchdown pass to C.J. Spiller that pulled New Orleans back from the brink of a winless abyss.

“Right when the play call came out of Sean Payton’s mouth for C.J., I thought, ‘This is it,’ ” Brees said. “ ‘This is going the distance.’ ”

It's called "multi-tasking", ... and didn't Spiller comment previously that you'd notice him when he gets out there?

What a game, what a game ...

Man Spiller got some wheels. It actually felt like a young Reggie Bush the way he could flat outrun people.

Agreed. He and MI could do some major damage. It was nice to see Spiller and the difference he can make. Man he's fast!

Glad Drew got the win...but he's hurt. Glad he's tough, but don't want to see him hurt worse. Would have rather seen the back up generator do the work. Thinking it would have been a win but not as close. Lucked out on missed/called back interceptions. That luck won't hold out. Next week, play McCown. give Drew some more healing time. It looked too much like last year which Drew admitted was bad because of his health. Duh-uuhh.

OH NO, not a Reggie Bush reference, Spiller has just come back from injury and you do that to him?
