The fun for Saints' Hau'oli Kikaha has just begun

Kikaha sounds like he's already learning from the full-time playing time from the season's onset. He's admittedly made mistakes. He never wants to make them twice, though.

The rookie defender pointed to one move where a more experienced tackle taught Kikaha a lesson. It resulted in Carson Palmer's infamous nine-Mississippi count in the pocket in Week 1 resulting in a touchdown pass.

"I threw a move on him, chop rip (move), and I was like beating him on the edge and he kind of sucked me in reaching around with his outside arm," Kikaha said. "Palmer gets around and scores a touchdown on the first drive. I've never really had that happen to me. Learn from that. I'll never forget it. ...

"It was just something simple. He chopped my arm. He used my own move against me."

His added knowledge helped Kikaha play possibly his most complete game against Dallas in Week 4. He led the Saints with eight total tackles:
•Tackle 1 -- Joseph Randle 5-yard run
•Tackle 2 -- Darren McFadden 0-yard gain
•Tackle 3 -- Randle 2-yard run
•Tackle 4 -- Randle 0-yard run
•Tackle 5 -- Randle 1-yard loss
•Tackle 6 -- Weeden sack for minus-11 yards
•Tackle 7 -- McFadden 3-yard loss
•Tackle 8 -- McFadden 1-yard run
•Total: Minus-7 yards surrendered on Kikaha's tackles

I'm not sure what he's calling a move. He just kind of runs and sticks his arm out. That "chop" as he describes it is pretty much as basic as it gets. He has a great burst off the edge, which is what excites me about his potential. If he could learn a spin move or two, and maybe use both his hands a little more effectively, he could be in the backfield all day.

Kikaha is indeed a bright spot seems his movement is good always seems to be involved or around each play.

He is not very fast, he's not overly powerful but he has a heart and a motor few can match. Really like his current production and potential.

That's probably as close as he'll come to being coached with the crew we have there.
