I am going to be the buzz kill, aren't I?

I see people talking about how we will get to 500 or back to the playoffs. People are talking about how the defense this and the defense that. I too am enjoying the win. Let's be honest, if all we accomplish this year was throttling the Failclowns in the Dome (and true dessert would be their home too) then at least we can enjoy that from this dreadful season. Let's be honest, though, this was our absolute best game of the season. It reminds me of last season's GB game. I felt we had turned a corner against Detroit last season. In truth we kind of had. Minus that collapse we would have won 3 games in a row, and had we held it together vs the 49ers, it could have been 4 games. Somewhere during that stretch of the best 4 games we played that season, we lost our team and season. So temper the expectations my friends, but know we do have a shot to put together some good wins, but until we do I am just enjoying this win. I will wait until the next week to see how we play. I hope we put forth the effort we did last night, because we can be a good team. Not elite, but good. And to anyone saying the Falcons haven't played anyone, nonsense, they're 5-0, and that is hard to do in the NFL. Do not talk down our win, we beat a good team. Oh sorry, that would be 5-1 now!

I think most of us are pretty realistic. We saw the good and the bad. This WAS our best game and it will take efforts like that just to win at all, let alone contend.

But why did you call yourself the buzzkill, and close out by telling people not to talk down the win? At any rate, I will enjoy this for what it is.

The win individually is a good win. It is as good as last week was bad. I don't think we should start thinking ahead with this team just yet. Hope that makes sense.

No, I agree. I mean, I don't take offense to any optimism, but for my own sanity I'm not going to get overly excited. It's just nice to see they have a performance like that in them.

Re: I am going to be the buzz kill, aren't I?

This was the best FEELING win in a long time. I actually think it was one of the more historic or memorable games played in the Dome, in the big picture. OK, maybe not top five all time, maybe not even top ten, but in the top tier of something. It was a huge emotional SURGE. The Dome was rocking and rolling. People needed this so bad. This game FELT better in my gut, than even some of the really BIG wins and historic games and great plays I've seen over the years. It was a Saints/Falcons game to remember for the ages. The blocked punt in the end zone with Gleason in the house watching, people in the stands waving Gleason jerseys -- that is definitely going in my all time book of eyewitness Saints memories.

Why can't people enjoy that?

Re: I am going to be the buzz kill, aren't I?

It was a good game plan. Rolling Brees out of the pocket or kill zone as it has become. Not many QB's can make those throws running sideways, fun to watch. Hope we can build off of it. Staying in the pocket is not an option with this OL.

Re: I am going to be the buzz kill, aren't I?

Well, I understand completely. Atlanta was yesterday. Colts are tomorrow. It can't be determined whether we figured anything out, however, the 3 year history tells us not to do a Martin Grammatica.

Enjoyed the win last night. Putting the blinders on for Indy.

Re: I am going to be the buzz kill, aren't I?

I sure as heck enjoyed it just like I did the Cows game.
It's nice to see at least the fire is still burning and we
haven't crossed over to total darkness.
And how bout that blocked punt I will never forget Gleason's
eyes when the camera was on him. Who Dat!

Re: I am going to be the buzz kill, aren't I?

yep you a buzz kill for sure. But I totally agree with you. This game came very close to being ugly. can not give up 400 yards a game and think we are going to get this many turnovers to save us. so i am with you

But i go pick up my winnings today. nope could not take the falcons and give up 3 like i said in a previous thread. It just felt ethically and morally wrong and i could not go through with it.

Beat the falcons at home is my min requirement for the season so i am on happy pig rolling around in ........

That's far from the concept. It is more "I am going to absolutely and fully enjoy it, but I am also going to keep from worrying about how our sex will be 3 times from now since I don't want to get ahead of myself"

Figured I'd help your comprehension abilities out.

I still don't have high hopes yet for this year, but if we can beat the Falcons twice and Carolina at least once this year, I can live with that. On a side note...where the fk did that passion from our players come from?? I truly think that is our main ingredient missing this year. I wonder if things are changing in that organization or was it just fueled from division rivalry?

Re: I am going to be the buzz kill, aren't I?

I'll tell you one thing I am most proud of about this team from last night - we played thru injuries and the next man up got the job done. Who the hell is Tony Hills? Listen when a rookie LT is replaced by somebody off the bench and your QB mostly stays upright -- somebody is doing his job.

Lord_Saint83 10-16-2015 01:41 PM

Re: I am going to be the buzz kill, aren't I?

The thing i like the most is we basically beat them convincingly. Most saints/falcons games go down to the last play of regulation or overtime to win. It was great to beat them without having a heart attack like usual.

Re: I am going to be the buzz kill, aren't I?

You ain't killin' my buzz. A dump truck full of spider-sh!t couldn't kill my buzz today. I'll have a freakish smile on my face all week long.

Re: I am going to be the buzz kill, aren't I?

as the cliche goes, one game at a time...
if we had won by 50, it still only counts as 1 win

by the end of the night we were down to a 3rd string tackle, and were missing Ellerbe, Lewis, Colston and Morstead
I'll take it

Re: I am going to be the buzz kill, aren't I?

It was fun watching the defense make some plays! Jordan was kicking some Falcon tail last night.

Go Breaux!!

Drew reminded us of what he can do with just a little bit of help. Watson showed the young uns how it's done. Go Big Ben! You're a beast.

Was the defense good last night or was it just lucky? I'll take either. Both would be best but I'm seeing baby steps with this team. If Payton can just keep making this team a little better each week we will be going in the right direction. And I don't think we've been able to say that in a couple of years now.

LOL Can't win for winning! Complain when they lose and complain when they win!! I know, I know. That's what fans do! Next time they get beat the Trade Him Now and Blow It Up Train will be packed and leaving the station on track #9. Oh wait, can't be #9 that track is being traded!!

10 days is a long time.
Armstead was limited in practice this week, but who knows if the game was Sunday instead of Thur?
Hopefully he and Lelito will be healthy. And Lewis. And Ellerbe. And even Colston

on a positive note, Byrd and Vaccaro played almost every down last night

Re: I am going to be the buzz kill, aren't I?

For me to buy into the Saints being a good team they will have to play good ball on both sides of the ball, it want matter if they win or lose, as long as they play good but if they come out and play like kids running around on a playground it's not hard to figure them out then. Solid football.

Come on, man. This is not a good team. This is a 2 and 4 team. Whether this win represents "turning a corner" on this season is an unknown. As a fan, I desperately hope so. My brain says, hmmm.....not enough data.

And, I'm cool with that.

1988 team went 7-1, after losing the first game to the 49ers. Finished 10-6 and no playoffs

1991, they started 8-0, finished 11-5
