It wouldn't shock me if it happened to be honest.

If it does happen, we found Payton when he was just a playcaller for Dallas, I'm confident we'd find someone else.

Exactly! I'm interested in dating Kate Uptown but thats probably not gonna happen either.

Gruden has made it very clear and concise that he enjoys that ABC booth & the pay that comes with it.

With his son living in Dallas, he ain't moving to California. Plus he would have to spend more time away from his son on the recruiting trail. If he leaves the Saints before Drew retires it would be to an NFL team like Dallas or Indy.

If you really listen to what Sean has said over the years, I think he is really enamored with the NFL level of things, and I don't really get a feeling there is very much interest from Payton in anything except pro NFL ball. Notice how many times he says stuff in his comments like "our game" "at this level" "in this league" etc.

To me those type of comments and the way he says them, it sounds like someone who is very proud to be there at the pinnacle of the sport (the top level, the NFL). He's never said anything I've heard, that makes me think he would have any interest in going backwards professionally back down to the college level. Even though the pay is good at colleges, it's not as good as being the highest paid coach in the NFL! Payton makes more than Saban, Meyer, Harbaugh, you name it...he's got 'em beat.

After playing ever-so-briefly in the pros in the '80s, he seems to have pretty single-mindedly slugged through the minor assistant coaching positions at the college level, just to get back to the NFL locker room, in terms of his overall career path. I don't see it happening.

Sounds like there's three other guys in the mix ahead of Payton, if Sean's even being seriously considered at all,.

One week after the University of Southern California fired its head football coach, Steve Sarkisian, the college is setting some lofty goals in its quest to find its next coach.

According to Dan Patrick of "The Dan Patrick Show," two sources "behind the scenes" at USC told him Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was on the program's "short list" of coaching candidates and they thought he could be talked into returning to USC, where he coached for nine seasons and won two national championships.

"Pete Carroll is on that short list right now," Patrick said. "Not that Pete would leave Seattle. But the alumni are all in on trying to get Pete back ... The people who help make decisions there, they think Pete Carroll is in play. This what I was told, before the loss [on Sunday], if it goes south in Seattle, they think there is a chance that Pete would listen to go back to USC."

Patrick described the sources as "people who are behind the scenes" but not people making the decisions.

Patrick had previously reported that Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was also on USC's list of candidates.

Kevin Sumlin at Texas A&M is also on the short list, but Patrick said "they don't think they can get him." Sumlin was reportedly the Trojans' top choice in 2013 when Sarkisian was hired, but he opted to stay at Texas A&M.

All those Southern California college girls. LOL. He would be like the recent coaches, out quickly. And the next paternity would be real. :)

We were looking for a coach when we found Payton. With Drew as our QB we should be able to draw a high quality coach.
