How to add comments to the aricles on the front page.
Blackandgold.net is a very complicated content management system that is very advanced for it's time. The articles on the font page act exactly like a forum. A writer writes, and it's set up like a "topic", and then after readers can add comments in the form of "Comments" which are replys to the articles.
Be sure to log-in and add questions or comments to the front page and the writer will answer. It's a great and easy way to start topics and post comments to the front page where we get a lot of traffic. Remember, the rules of this forum are the rules of the entire site, so they apply everywhere. Happy Blogging! |

How to add comments to the aricles on the front page.
I like the articles, but I also feel that many of our regular posters know as much or more than the official writers.
I do wish there would be more comments posted. Unfortunately the writers never respond to the comments. I want feedback. |

How to add comments to the aricles on the front page.
Our regular column writers have revealed their sources to me which I personally confirmed within or around the Saints organization a few years ago when I became editor. A few have no sources but write as fan writers. Gumbo is the most inside with the Superdome and the team, so much so that if he revealed his name he could lose his job. Scott Balot has reported and has been personally removed from the Saints media room for asking too many questions, and I have been threatened and once hid in the bathroom at SLU to escape someone who didn\'t like what I wrote. With the work that we do and the time we take to make some news that is completely original, I find the first part of your statement to be disrespectful because we work hard to bring something different to the table that\'s new and not a kiss ass perspective of the Saints from \"inside the locker room.\" I know you probably didn\'t mean it in that way, but in case you did I speak for every writer here, and myself as editor, that when you say many of our regular posters know as much or more than the official writers, I find that to be a complete slap in the face, because I read this forum and most members have no clue as to what even happened that day in Saints news or the day before for that matter and I have to sometimes personally fetch it myself to post it. I have sent a personal email to Jarrod Breaux to start to read his comments and he will probably do so next week as I usually don\'t hear from him until the weekend. I ask anyone to challenge his or myself or Scott Balot\'s or Gumbo\'s knowledge of this team and it\'s whereabouts, or even Stealthman\'s knowledge of this team\'s history as he is not on the Saints beat, but knows as much about their history as anyone that I know. Danno, I appreciate you being here and even being interested in this thread, and I hope you know that. There are smart people on this forum and I ask that if they have enough confidence to step up and can put together a column every week, to please come and write for us. How to add comments to the aricles on the front page.
Thats good to know Halo. I didn\'t mean it as a slap in the face. I tried to comment on the columns when I 1st got here and quickly noticed them fading into oblivion unchallenged.
I hope Scott (and others) starts to reply more. There are always a few things I don\'t see eye to eye with him about and would love to go back and forth with him about it. But for the most part I really look forward to the SSW and Balot\'s column, and read every one of them, looking for that chink in the armour sos to speak. Actually sitting down over a few cold ones and yappin\' about stuff with some of these insiders would be even cooler. Off the record with Hoakie or Kenny would probably shock me. Anyway, sorry I came across as an arrogant know it all. (Wow, I usually only say that to my wife... frequently) |

No everything is fine. I didn\'t figure you were coming at us, but by the way it sounded I had to defend our name somehow.
I will talk to these guys personally and get this started asap, hopefully next week. If I can\'t get the writer to react, I\'ll just disable comments for that article which is no fun. If you guys will support this feature, I will make sure it happens. |

How to add comments to the aricles on the front page.
thanks halo. i have been a longtime reader that only recently started posting. i think there are a lot of good ideas and commentary that go on here amidst the bs.
ideas that could juice activity up and make for more interaction and a better site overall might be- *columnists sticking their heads into forums for more comments now n then *more or better replies to letters as danno said, though i don\'t know about that personally *if not a weekly column, have an editorial/article of the week from those submitted by forum contributors. there are plenty of ideas that you could generate too, such as all-time best saints memory, most under appreciated saint in history, worst and best draft picks, trades, etc. put a reminder in the forum now n then too. in the off season with football starved fans, i bet you would get some useable work. *make use of the chat feature here. annouce that this thursday or whenever scott and you will be in the chatroom at 8pm for 90 minutes of saints chat. i think it might be very popular. then get guests, other sportswriters, people associated with the business and sport, or players whether active or not. ps/ i have created two threads, draft and free agency reference threads. i have tried to put useful material such as team salary caps, etc. in them so people do not have to ask the same questions over and over. could you look at them and see if they might be worth pinning, at leat until after the draft? thanks for your time and effort |

Just my 2-cents here...
The columns written by the various writers of B&G bring a different perspective than the usual Saints\' news found everywhere else. They not only bring us the current Saints\' news, they also make personal observations. I like the fact that they aren\'t afraid to voice their opinions. Now, I don\'t always agree with them, but I like the fact that they tell us how they feel. Let\'s face it, we\'re not going to all agree on everything. I don\'t know what kind of \"inside\" contacts they have within the Saints. But, I do know they get the scoop on somethings before anyone else. And that\'s hard to do when you\'re not in the \"loop.\" |
