Earlier in the year, many were wondering if this would be the worst Saints defense. After some struggles, I've seen the defense really shape into something that makes me very happy. For starters, it looks as though we actually hit in the draft. Stephone Anthony and Hau'oli Kikha look like two impactful players. We have a few young corners that are showing some real potential. Byrd is back , and I have to say... ever since he's came back I've seen improvement in the coverage. Both CJ is looking back in top form and Vaccaro looks like hes shaking off his sophomore slump.

Re: The D
Anthony had a pick and Kikakaha forced a fumble. Two rookie D tackles look good. Breaux is legit and Swann can run with anyone. Cam Jordan is playing at a pro bowl level and I keep seeing Edibali all over the field. DT Kevin Williams is solid and yea, the D is looking surprisingly competent. The youngest D in the league by far will get better every week I bet.

Re: The D
I see the difference is in the play making.
They are starting to play in the moment. First few games Jordan was always one step away form a sack. Almost sack is still a zero on the stat sheet and a plus for the other team. First few games there were at least four(4) dropped interceptions. That still ended up a zero on the stat sheet and a non-turn-over for us. First few games NO DB looked back and made a play on the ball - NOT ONE! Really got under my skin cat fighting with the receiver AFTER the ball wizzes past their ear hole. Last few games guys are looking back and challenging the receiver for the ball. Makes all the difference in the world. Refs can't just hand out PI's if they are going for the ball. Much improved play making. I love it! |

Re: The D
the difference the last two weeks is cam jordan and the pass rush. plain and simple. also, ellerbe has been great. we have good talent on our d. if we can keep getting some pressure we will keep doing well.

Re: The D
Adjustments by the Staff are key, but game action experience will gel the new and old players. Actually not many old players at all.

Re: The D
I can't wait to see Breaux and Lewis as starting corners and Swann as #3
Put Illegal Contact on the opponents #4 WR or TE |
