A Little Help Here.... D. Henderson??
Please excuse me for asking what is probably a well known item down that away... But I never heard what prevented Devery Henderson from playing last season. Saints news is very sparse up in Va. I never heard a thing and kept waiting for him to have a breakout. I a s s u m e that he must have had an injury of some kind.
Please enlighten me and any prognosis for the off-season. Thanks! |

A Little Help Here.... D. Henderson??
From what I understand, his development was hurt by showing up into camp late due to the contract dispute, and that landed him in Haslett\'s doghouse. As Haslett already seems to make changes grudgingly, he did not feel fit to sit anyone and give Devery a chance. With a full off-season under him, and the possible release of Pathon, Devery should see the field next year, hopefully.

agreed on haslett, also the rumor was going around he was having difficulty picking up the playbook. that i just dont get. either there was terrible misjudgement by the saints or he had them fooled. and why not get to see his blazing speed on special teams? i couldnt understand that. that playbook cannot be so thick. i just hope he isnt deserving of such doghouse-idness like another well known draft pick that cant make the active roster.

A Little Help Here.... D. Henderson??
This was discussed before, and to put him in the game to run a go route, or fly route or deep slant is how hard? Not at all. So what if the other team knows that\'s what he\'s in the game for, they still have to run with him and stop him from getting the ball right? I think him holding out was a grudge Haslett held and he didn\'t let him play. There is no excuse for his speed not to be used in some capacity. I mean there were plenty of first round receivers who did nothing, yet they played.

A Little Help Here.... D. Henderson??
it\'s been known to happen. I wonder if hasslett is one of the coaches that was being considered when another head coach talked about being able to look at game one and know what the team was going to do in game 16.
I seriously hope not..but you know I\'m starting to wonder. the age old question is: who was in charge of play calling and preperation in the last 4 games. and if it\'s not haslett. then why are all the players in his corner? that wouldn\'t make sense. |

A Little Help Here.... D. Henderson??
whoops, hit a wrong button. Anyway Devrey holding out when not being a number 1 pick, or proven in the NFL was a bad move. And being able to run 3 routes i doubt would have won us anymore games. Rookies need to just sign the minimum except maybe 1st rounders, and play friggin ball. When will they learn it\'s about the team and game. New England players have.

A Little Help Here.... D. Henderson??
Thanks for the info and all I can say is UNBELIEVABLE! I suspected that he was watching from the bench because of a grudge with Haz... But all season?? I can\'t understand why he wasn\'t used on special teams or something.

A Little Help Here.... D. Henderson??
The official reason was that we remained injury free at WR for the whole year. We only activate 4 WR\'s weekly, and they weren\'t gonna de-activate Michael Lewis.
So if he were activated it would basically be as a special teams contributor, and Lewis and Gardner are both much better special teamers. Now if we had suffered as many injuries as we did in 2003, he would have played quite a bit. 2005 may ba a bit different, since it appears Pathon may be gone. He also fell behind the learning curve and Haz stated they weren\'t going slow down the teamwork to let him catch up. This kid is gonna be a star. Anyone hear of Dunta Robinson? He said at the Senior bowl that Devery Henderson was the best WR he faced all year. I\'m not buying that he\'s \"not as talented as thought\" BS. |

His agent must have put a little too much optimism in that he being part of a championship team, would get more money - but $15k is nothing compared to being reduced to a spectator especially with his speed.
