Thoughts from the game
Just my musings after watching the game
1. O-line is still very porous, and is probably as good as it's gonna get for this season. But it should be helped with next year's draft 2. Brees arm strength is just fine 3. Coming into the game, Tennessee was #3, statistically, against the pass. Brees did well against it, for the most part, when he had sufficient "NFL" time to throw the ball 3. We missed having Khiry to shore up a few runs 4. Cooks will be a wonderful receiver for us, but he needs another legit receiver opposite him to keep defenses honest. He and Colston in his prime would have been great fun to watch 5. Absolutely cannot let Orakpo come in untouched on Brees. Something went wrong with the call on that play 6. Brandon Browner is just awful. How many first downs did he give up? And how many were from penalty or were on 3rd down? Is SJB available somewhere? He can't be any worse 7. Our backup linebackers are awful as well. When you have Mauti and Hawthorne flanking Anthony most of the game, it's gonna be a long day 8. We missed Ellerbe also 10. For whatever reason, we have problems covering TEs. Been that way for years 11. We definitely missed Kikaha 12. Three games before Tennessee with Kikaha = 11 sacks, today, 0 sacks and minimal pass rush 13. Did Lewis even play today? 14. Breaux is something special. He's having his learning moments but he's still awesome 15. That last FG attempt by us, the snap was, once again, bad. Who was our long snapper on that play? |

Re: Thoughts from the game
Our offense did just fine in spite of some dumb mistakes. Anytime an offense puts 20 plus on a top 4 overall defense they have done their job. We hung more points on them than anyone this season. They held Atlanta to 10 with a healthy JJ.
We cant cover TEs because our LbERS arent getting it done and havent for years. Fix the LB corps and you take away the TE. I think that will be much improved next year. Where was Cam Jordan? Browner sucks. Did you hear the temper tantrum he threw in the locker room? |

Re: Thoughts from the game
I figured we would lose the game after Murphy fumbled that ball everything was going great and that's when it was just all down hill from then...

If Ellerbe can ever be healthy, I'd love to see what he and kikaha can do on a continuous basis. Tull will be here next year as well. I'm sure we'll draft another OLB also And Cam was Cam, except he didn;t have any other pass rush threats out there, so they were able to key on him and lock him down. And no, I didn't hear the temper tantrum, just heard about him blowing up when they were asking Byrd some question |

Re: Thoughts from the game
It seem after Byrd knocked the ball out of Lewis hand everything started to go down hill for the defense. Mauti looked like he was in a roid rage, why in the hell are you head budding and constantly jawing with the opponent? Our lb depth looked pitiful and BB play with absolutely no confidence no need for all that grabbing if you trust technique and your ability

Re: Thoughts from the game
My thought is that we are DONE. Heartbreaking. I had no idea I was walking in to watch a Loss today. No idea.
We need to fire and rebuild starting NOW, in order that we field a contending team NEXT YEAR. |

Re: Thoughts from the game
Jarius Byrd is a complete bust
The expectation is he was a ball hawk He comes to New Orleans - coronation, big money Plays ultra tentative Afraid of his own shadow Always out of position and the one play he is even close to being the cover over the top he clearly bonehead gets in the way of Lewis who he should be backing |

Re: Thoughts from the game
After giving up 49 last week, I was not convinced we were going anywhere this year.
Consequently, the loss doesnt blow me away much. I was thinking that id be happy to take the loss, if it meant change, but I suspect nothing will happen and no change will eventuate. Id like to see Browner go and I've lost faith in RR. This year is all about next year, imo. |
