Draft
Since the season was over, I have been spending my time preparing for the draft. I was wandering, if a top corner fell to the Saints, what are the odds that we finally draft one? Also, who do yall think would be a better pick, the size and strength of Rolle, or the speed and quickness of Pac-man

Heya TayTay.
Welcome to the board! I\'m sort of leaning toward our drafting Thomas in the first round. I\'d love to see a top LB or Rolle though. I don\'t think we need a RB. |

Thanks for the welcome JKool. I agree about linebacker exept there is a drop off in talent after Derrick Johnson and Shawnie Mariane. Shawnie would be better off in a 3-4 however and I don\'t see the Saints trading up to bag D-Rock. Derrick Johnson would be my first selection if available, but I don\'t see it happening. I do like the potential of Davis, however. I think we should keep a close eye on him.

If a top corner fell like Rolle, we definately cannot pass on him no matter who\'s still there. There are a couple of good defensive tackles also available and I would also consider a big OT too. I think safety can be acquired in the second round like Shazor or Pool. Davis is pretty much just a run stopper and I think these two are better in coverage. Lots of talk of Davis moving to strong/weak side linebacker.

Good point Papz.
There are a number of strong DTs available. I like a couple of them too, like Hawthorne. |

Speaking of DT\'s, USC\'s Shaun Cody is a monster. Wouldn\'t hurt to grab him 1st round, and he\'d be an absolute steal in the 2nd.
That being said, a top DB probably fits a more pressing need. I don\'t think Rolle will fall to us, but there might be a another solid CB or safety on the board when we come around. Just hope the Saints don\'t screw up yet another draft (but for what it\'s worth, we actually got some quality out of last year). |

I don\'t know why you are analyzing the draft so much. Who\'s coming out from Georgia this year? That\'s who we\'ll draft.
End of analysis! <GRIN> |

Even though it is highly inprobable, I would love to trade up for Johnson. He is an absolute stud and will be in the pro bowl in 3 years tops.

I also like Jackson, however, 16 is a bit high. We should find a better player with our first pick. If Jackson doesn\'t have a great combine or else he might drop to us in round two anyway.
