Best back in NFL
I recently got in a fight wih a buddy as to whether or not deuce is a top 3 running back in the NFL. This of course is based on talent alone, and not on the system the back is in. Of course he had an of year, but the season was plauged by injuries. Anyway, here's how I rank the league's top backs. Tell me what you think.
1. L. Tomlinson 2. Deuce 3. Shaun Alexander 4. E. James 5. Ahman Green 6. Clinton Portis 7. Preist Holmes 8. Curtis Martin 9. Jamal Lewis 10. Fred Taylor |

If Deuce comes in fat and out of shape again I\'d be tempted to put Stecker above him. But I\'ve already gone there and too many can\'t handle the truth and it leads to hostilities.
Here\'s my list. 1. L.Tomlinson 2. C. Portis 3. A. Green 4 S. Alexander 5. J. Lewis 6. P. Holmes 7. C. Dillon 8. F. Taylor 9. W. McGahee 10. S. Jackson 11. Rudi Johnson 12. E. James 13. D. McAllister 14. C. Martin 15. T. Barber |

Come on Danno..13......that\'s just plain ridiculous...
Deuce will silence a lot of critics this year if: a. Karney leads the way b. He comes into camp at around 220 c. Haz stays in his azz. |

Look at your IF list. I don\'t see other stud RB\'s with a qualifying IF list. Yea, IF Deuce comes into camp in shape, no question he\'s a top 5 RB. I\'ve always said that. But right now he\'s fat and out of shape. But if you think about it, its flattering to be a top 15 back when you\'re fat, outta shape, and slower than your TE\'s. If Sullivan comes into camp in great shape, and Haz stays on his azz, does that mean he\'ll be a top 5 DT? I\'ll revise my list drastically if Deuce comes into camp at a muscular 225 lbs. But until then, he\'s 13th on my list. And I don\'t think there\'s anything ridiculous about it. What I find ridiculous are the excuses made for Deuce. But thats our Saints. EXCUSES EXCUSES EXCUSES, thats all anyone ever makes for the New Orleans Saints. [Edited on 18/2/2005 by Danno] |

Portis is good but he\'s not that good! Same goes for J. Lewis - we are foced to watch both of them every weekend up here and i wouldn\'t put either in the top 5. I\'ll be curious to see if Lewis walks a little funny when he gets back from the slammer... Nobody has Holmes in the top5 - are you guys nuts??
1. L.Tomlinson 2. P. Holmes 3. C. Dillon 4 S. Alexander 5. D. McAllister 6. A. Green 7. E. James 8. C. Martin 9. W. McGahee 10. F. Taylor My prediction is that Deuce and McGahee will end up being the best two backs in football over the next couple of years. Gee, I miss football |

If you\'re talking talent alone - pure ability - I say that Deuce is top 5, but has dropped slightly b/c he gained weight and paid for it in break-away speed (b/c his coaches told him to do so).
1. L.Tomlinson 2. C. Portis 3. S. Alexander 4. J. Lewis 5. Deuce 6. P. Holmes 7. A. Green 8. C. Dillon 9. W. McGahee 10. E. James In terms of production, Deuce should be lower, but keeping in mind his numbers over the last 3 years (DANNO) I don\'t think he\'s out of the top ten. In terms of value, he\'s right around 5th, IMO, and if he can stay healthy (big if), he\'s definitely a top 5 \"prospect.\" |

Haslett did not tell Deuce to gain weight. Haz told Deuce he wants him to lose 2lbs. every year that he\'s in the NFL. I heard Haslett say it with my own 2 ears. And it was also in an article I posted here last year. Where did you ever get Haslett wanted Deuce to gain weight? There\'s so many great runningbacks in the NFL right now. Deuce is in the top 10, IMO. With the potential to be top 5 if he stays healthy. |
