this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Can we please draft a Beast? A true monster WR like Calvin Johnson or Dez Bryant or a centerpiece LB or a fear instilling Defensive End...Someone who can DOMINATE a game...that's what I want...not a 1A type player... Thoughts?...

Re: 2016 first round pick
After this past draft,I believe we'll have better luck with upcoming drafts. We did pretty good this year. I also believe Kikaha will be our beast DE/LB.

I did see one mock that had us getting Coleman from Baylor. It would be great for offense, but thats not always the problem. I would love to see us get Shaq Lawson if possible. Cam on one side and Shaq on the other, and maybe upgrade at DT with later pick. However, I really feel we need better CBs, yet we fail to draft that position well. Hopefully a strong front 7 can make up for that? |

Re: 2016 first round pick
I believe in Jeff Ireland leading the draft, he found some very good players in the last one.
We need a true playmaker, a JJ Watt, Gerald McCoy type player. Cam Jordan is okay but he's not that player. On offense we still have plenty of holes, O line is absolutely terrible apart from Armstead We have no true Number 1 WR which is glaringly obvious We also have to think of life after Brees, if there is a QB who is a can't miss guy, do we go for him? |

We need a true 3-4 NT to get in the backfield.

Re: 2016 first round pick
We so badly need a pass rushing DT. Sadly, I don't really see any in this draft. In other words, BRING BACK TYRUNN WALKER.

Re: 2016 first round pick
Whatever mock has us taking Coleman had better be wrong. He has prolific numbers, but it's in an offense that produces lots of prolific stats, against the lesser teams on it's schedule, and more importantly the players very rarely have gone on to have success in the NFL.
The biggest problem I have with him, though, is that he's a Brandin Cooks body type. We already have him. If we're going to draft a WR he needs to be a more physical presence. But really we need O-line help before WR. Defensively, if I am to believe that the young guys will mature and get better, than there's no question in my mind that DT is top priority. I'm just not quite sure who best fills that role yet. Robert Nkemdiche gets all the hype, but I kind of like Montravius Adams better. He's quicker and seems like he has a better ability to both stop the run and rush the passer. I have heard some negative things about his motor, though. Adams is more likely to be available to us, however. Despite our poor defense it does not look like we'll be picking in the top 10. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
