The New Orleans Saints defense looked like it might be turning a corner in the midst of a three-game winning streak.

But when the injury-riddled defense failed to stop the struggling Tennessee Titans and rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota last Sunday, optimism was more difficult to muster.

Through nine games, the Saints defense is allowing about 6.5 yards per play, the second-worst mark in post-merger NFL history, according to Pro Football Reference. The only team to do worse through the opening nine games? The 2012 Saints.

When you can't get off the field on 3rd down, drives continue and this'll happen. We have a 1st down machine lined up on defense for us.

All the opposing DC & QB has to do is press #39 & it's pretty much automatic.

It's demoralizing.

um Id wager a years pay that if you took all the stats from all other NFL teams Defenses from 2006-2015 we would be ranked 31-32 easy in that enire span of time. Only reason we ever looked good was Drew Brees, and one year of lucky turnovers.

Ellerbe and Kikhaha were our two best players and helped make it easier for the others to play better. Ntm Lewis is not even playing a full count yet. Those are three major pieces so it is a reason.

One of their better games during the 3 game win streak where you could really see the corner being turned was against the Giants. Eli's 6 td's were mundane to say the least

Bingo. There are no injuries on the front line. So explain why they got next to zero pressure, not a single sack. The LB injuries are pretty bad though. We had to play Mauti all game for ***s sake. The DB leaving receivers wide open consistently has nothing to do with injuries. Its called COACHING and its just a matter of time. The time bomb is ticking..

Some people like that will never stop. After as easy as we scored our first two (only) touchdowns today, it's pretty pathetic that they couldn't score again. But as a whole this season, it's ridiculous to blame the whole season on the offense.

I got in an argument with some dope after the eagles loss who wanted to blame everything on the offense not giving the D a rest. No matter what I told him about how the D NEVER slowed them down, at any point in the game, he wanted to blame it all on the offense. Well, I'm guessing after we scored 52 and gave up 49 in the same game, that guy feels like a real genius. Haven't seen him post in weeks.

Some people are just to dumb and can't be reasoned with. When your offense needs to put up 50 points just to have a chance, there is a problem with the D. Plain and simple. This is D is at 2012 level bad. Lets just hope it results in the same thing in the next few days.
