The extension, to me, is basically an apology for calling this a high school team. Anyone can plainly see Haslett did not deserve it, but it is a face saving move. He can\'t simply say \"I am gonna keep Haslett cause I don\'t wanna pay him to fire him.\" It has to seem like he has utmost confidence in him, and what better way than an extension. Just like they are saving Venturi face by not firing him but creating all these colorful new positions to gloss around the fact he has been replaced. I wouldn\'t be surprised if at some point he decides to \"step down.\"
