So Spiller appears to be a waste?

While not much can be judged from the game against Washington given Payton gave up, he was outcarried by Hightower when Ingram went down. On WWL's call-in show someone called him soft. Which begs the question if Spiller was worth bringing on? Yes he was the reason we won two games but it's obvious he's not getting the touches and when he does he's not making much with them. If Ingram were to miss time it appears there's no replacement.

With the game over, why put in Spiller and waste him getting hurt?
Nobody cares if Hightower gets hurt.

Spiller hasn't been used as much as any of us thought he would. Coach needs to either use him like Sproles or use Cooks that way and have Spiller in the slot or backfield

While I agree w this, it just goes to show how far payton's mental toughness has deteriorated. Saints used to never ever give up in their championship season. Down 17 in the 4th quarter w less than 5 minutes to play? No problem. Not anymore.

first of all, spiller has really no seen the field much since he did not go all out for that 1rst down. he is in SP's dog house.

W should be using spiller more, a lot more, but if you're going to play look a puss, well...

I've about given up on trying to guess what's going on behind the scenes in that organization. We might be spot on with our guesses or way the f**k off. Just when you think they're losing it,they pull off a win where we dominate and execute and everybody gets to play, followed by an embarrassing, BS performance by coaches and players the next week.

Exactly!

Reggie Bush ran out of bounds one yard short on 3rd down in 2009 and was immediately benched for the rest of the game.

LOL, with Byrd and Browner on the team, Spiller is the waste? As if......

It's all on Payton. And he will be gone after the season.

You think so? What about all the talk about just hanging in there until 2017? There's a few teams out there that would gladly take SP and are in the market for a H/C, Detroit being one of them, and I'd kinda' like to see him make that move ... if he's gotta' go, :).

I can see the speed returning and the cuts are getting sharper.

BUT what i do see is Spiller trusting that knee. Mentally he is not just not there, unlike Hightower.

Will spiller ever get over his fear? That is the question.

Re: So Spiller appears to be a waste?

So, by the stats after 9 games in:
Rushing 30/110 yds
Receiving 26/ 208 yds
2 TDS/ 1 Fumble

This is roughly 3 carries and 2+ receptions per game. Really? This is what you paid for? SP isn't giving this guy the rock, but no one seems to know why.

Re: So Spiller appears to be a waste?

Coach has packed it in. It's my opinion but he doesn't have the same control over this team. Remember in the past, players would talk about how they were afraid of getting the "look" from Payton when they screwed up? You don't hear anything about that anymore. This team does not fear him like they use to. He has lost this team and I really don't think he will make it past this season.

I hope I am wrong. I've stated before that I hope Payton stays but his buddies have got to go. We need some fresh ideas and we are not gonna get them from the current staff.

All part of the plan to be the new Dallas coach!

Apparently Spiller just isn't explosive as Payton thought and he isn't elusive either. I agree that he looks tentative.

Re: So Spiller appears to be a waste?

If I am Payton Spiller doesn't get many looks either. He's done nothing to deserve them. Ingram would get every carry and reception with Robinson being out. He has been fighting for every yard he can. Spiller has been fighting for nothing.

So I might need to drop Spiller from my fantasy team. Should I go ahead and pull the trigger and should Ingram get hurt just rely on DWill and Gore as my number 2 and 3? I also have Matt Jones but who knows with him. I also have Watkins, Decker, Hurns.

is there a chance the guys still hurt from training camp?. that play he didn't try for the first down was a wash from the start, a sweep only works 8% of the time in college. in the pros its probably 1% a sweep left saints history .00627%. yes this is all bs but u all should no not since be-lo philupps was on the team in .80s what about all the 1 foot line 3 and outs on ingram that couldn't break a sweat, no running back that runs straight up can get a yard since refrigerator, am I right, b. Jordan ran at 45 degrees, dam i'm tired of fighting the fight.

Spiller looks like a great deal compared to Byrd

He is always out of position and plays so tentative
The only time he was close to a play he runs into Keenan Lewis who had an obvious interception for a Giants touchdown

I'm not done with Spiller
Peyton needs to utilize him better
