We talked about this already, remember?

We lost draft picks due to bounty-gate and made some crap choices in the drafts from 2012-2014 (not all but most).
At the end of 2014 Loomis and SP saw this and fired the scouting staff. Then this year we suddenly had our best draft in ages.

Firing Sean Payton will be about as effective as firing Rob Ryan. A placebo if anything. Canning SP cannot offset the fact that we're starting rookies and we have aging vets in some positions we can't bring replacements in for fast enough.
It probably could have worked out if we hadn't suffered an inordinate amount of injuries to key people (Lewis, Hawthorne, Armstead, Ellerbe, Brees, Bush, Robinson, Swann, and Kikaha).

Why is that every year we have a lot of players hurt? Not just the typical amount other teams deal with, but a lot. Its been going on for years. Its like we're made of glass. Could it be our S&C programs?

It doesn't hurt other teams that practice up North at nice facilities. IIRC there are several top teams that do that.

Re: Fire Sean Payton

soft camp = soft team, yes they train up north but not a 5* resort in the state of the head coach's rumored GF that just happens to be owned by a fan of the team.

Since his return, Payton has made questionable call after questionable call. That year away took so much aggression and cockiness away from him

Re: Fire Sean Payton

I don't think Payton needs to be fired to turn this thing around, but Loomis does. There also needs to be a change in philosophy to build through the draft instead of getting all these washed up free agents. Unfortunately the salary cap mess and Brees contract stop the Saints from getting young quality free agents that they can sign to long term contracts. Winning big while Brees is still here may not be likely. Saints need a total rebuild.

I don't think he needs to be fired. I don't mind him putting the D in someones hands and holding them responsible but damn lets get it right!

If you do fire Payton the question is who do you replace him with??? If you don't have a good answer then he stays. Go get the Alabama D coach as our DC.

He has the most defensive talent in the entire NCAA to work with, and Saban is actually the mastermind behind that defense. Smart just does his bidding.

A big fat hell no!

Let him prove himself with mediocre talent, then lets talk.

let's wait and see what DA can do... I am under no illusions about how much he will be able to change this year, but I'd like to see if there is any improvement

Re: Fire Sean Payton

Come on guys and gals. What happened to the days of Don Shula, Chuck Nole, George Halas and Tom Landry and don't tell me their over. Sean Payton has brought respect to a team, a city and a people that was long overdue. He should not get fired and we should stop the discussion there. Our team needs us now more than ever and we should at least have the decency to wait until the end of the regular season.
