And who was it that said not sold on Nkdemevich? He plays in the SEC.

Look when the combine happens you watch and see where the SEC guys end up compared to other conferences' players.

The best damn cornerbacks, safeties and defensive lineman in the draft. We will need to pick up 1 or 2 offensive lineman and 1 or 2 wide receivers in FA. We also need to start the development of Brees' replacement

Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame 6055 315 5.17

He would be sweet to have. Not only is he one of the top OT but many think a move back to LOG were he started would be his best move and give him a shot at multiple years as an all pro vs outside at OT. Which I can understand and see in his game. You can speed rush the kid but your not going to out dance him or push him around a phone booth. Switches off smoothly and is incredibly smart.

Armstead and Stanely would be a dangerous duo. Add to it the ability to jump outside in case of injury would be huge. he can go RT or LT. he is that gifted. Unlike Andrus Peat, he is not a project to make versatile.

I had him rated as the same type of player Collins last year. An OT that might be better off at OG. Stanely has more natural athletic ability.

Then draft one of the two road graders from Arkansas in the middle rounds
Sebastian Tretola, ROG, Arkansas 6045 334 5.28
Denver Kirkland OG/OT Arkansas 6045 340 5.47

The saints OL wows would all but disappear.

just a thought.

Excellent choice, build the lines or the rest doesn't matter. That's been one of Paytons biggest failures, going after DBs and offensive weapons while both lines deteriorate.

Its the recipe for success.

But obviously that alone won't do it. But without solid trenches, it makes everything else more difficult.

Have to build your lines first. We had a great OL and the meager DL fed off of it. Our lines are really bad. It could take a couple of years to solidify one side. I think OL is the way to go. DL, more prone to injuries. We don't build lines, just patch holes. This ship is barely afloat.

It never takes a couple of years to solidify anything other than QB.

I got to go O-line in the 1st. D-line in the 2nd. If this trend of losing continus a 5th pick or lower could happen with a low 30's. Trading Jordan could get us about any type of line O or D we wanted with picks that low. Rebuild complete.

The failure rate of draft picks is way way too high to risk trading a star player for a couple of high picks.

It doesn't make sense at all.

Re: So who do we draft?

We need a DE that can crush the pocket and attack the QB, Cam Jordan just isn't good enough. We need to trade him while he may still have some value. and pick up his replacement. Also need a DT that can push the middle of the pocket and an OLB that can run and disrupt. After that get a big WR with speed that might be under the radar and address the two G spots and RT. Unfortunately we're stuck with Unger for now, but he's been underwhelming so far. Oh, and we need Browner's replacement.

Personal preference: Best available D-lineman & O-lineman 1st through 3rd Rounds.

No trading up; only trade down for additional picks.

Get a Vet WR and hold off on drafting one until rd 3. We need to hit with a DL that has a great pass rush and a OL that can be plugged in right away. Drew has a very fast release but this year it's not even close to fast enough. The guy needs more time. And with a dominant pass rush our DB's will look much better.

+1. I would even consider rd 2 on a NT. I didn't see it (may have missed it) mentioned in JP or Hagin earlier post on draft picks but I'm surprised no one has brought up the name A'Shawn Robinson from Bama.

I think this kid will be a solid RUN STUFFER at the NFL level.

Honestly we need both... A NT who doesn't get blown off the line of scrimmage and can eat blockers and a 3-technique DT who can rush the passer.

Gurley. And then go look at Gordon.

When we're talking about first year success and getting better the next year the SEC has done it better than anyone. I'm not saying anyone in the SEC, stay away from SEC teams that give u points for defense and stay away from system offenses. Are you saying AJ, Jones, Gurley were developed. Saban develops players. Also look at the kids in California today and look at them in the south. The kids out west need all the coaching and help they can get while those in the south work hard. When was the last time anything was successful from usc? I told everyone about Lee and Agholor. Neither have done anything significant. Strong? Where is he? Why is he not starting in Houston? top talent wants to play in the SEC because of the atmosphere and acceptance. You have to think about stuff like this to factor where heart wants to be at.

Jaylon Smith looks like a good prospect. I think Jaylon, Kikaha, and Anthony would make a nice young LB corps. Although a beast WR would be nice, I don't think we're at that point yet to make it a #1 priority. OG,LB,and DT are more important IMHO.

Great list Hagan. I'm already wondering how our draft boards will be set up.

We need a NT, OG and WR first and foremost. These positions, if they were solid selections, would make us contenders again. I'm torn between a DT or WR in the first. I'm hoping for a nasty NT. I want to solidify the O-line but I don't want to take a chance on a mid to late rounder to protect Drew Brees.
