Re: So who do we draft?
We need the best OLB/DE available. Another coverage ILB. A dominant WR, and Oline mostly. Lb depth would be good so the defense doesnt die mid season like this year.

Re: So who do we draft?
at this rate we are getting back into what they call a sure thing. lmao sure thing right. But one of my favs for the saints that stayed out of the draft last year is here this year.
Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame 6055 315 5.17 He would be sweet to have. Not only is he one of the top OT but many think a move back to LOG were he started would be his best move and give him a shot at multiple years as an all pro vs outside at OT. Which I can understand and see in his game. You can speed rush the kid but your not going to out dance him or push him around a phone booth. Switches off smoothly and is incredibly smart. Armstead and Stanely would be a dangerous duo. Add to it the ability to jump outside in case of injury would be huge. he can go RT or LT. he is that gifted. Unlike Andrus Peat, he is not a project to make versatile. I had him rated as the same type of player Collins last year. An OT that might be better off at OG. Stanely has more natural athletic ability. Then draft one of the two road graders from Arkansas in the middle rounds Sebastian Tretola, ROG, Arkansas 6045 334 5.28 Denver Kirkland OG/OT Arkansas 6045 340 5.47 The saints OL wows would all but disappear. just a thought. |
Re: So who do we draft?
Yes.... And more thoughts needed.

Re: So who do we draft?
Get a good legitimate number 1 reciever in the first. Draft defensive and offensive line including a pass rusher. Our secondary will be fine.

So how do we get all of that in one offseason? |
Re: So who do we draft?
1a) DT who can rush the passer
1b) Big, strong possession WR |

Two G's, 1 TE, 1 WR, 1 LB, 1 DT, 1 CB.

Re: So who do we draft?
Imma say RG or LG,DE,OLB,ILB,WR
|
Re: So who do we draft?
Depends on what the coaching staff looks like next year. I can see Payton drafting offense in the first round

Jake Butt TE Michigan 6051 248 4.83 Hunter Henry*, TE, Arkansas 6052 253 4.79 OJ Howard leads the list of other through round 3 |

Treadwell is projected to be a top 10 selection on draft day. |
Re: So who do we draft?
Treadwell is the only WR I want in the first round at this point. If he's off the board then I'm looking at DT's like Andrew Billings, A'Shawn Robinson, Adolphus Washington... It's a pretty good year for DT's.

Re: So who do we draft?
We have one other issue though that I haven't seen much talk about. That issue being weak side LB. Ellerbe hasn't been healthy for two years now going back to his time at Miami. If Ellerbe can't bounce back then we could also look for that stud weak side LB in the first round. Maybe Myles Jack or Leonard Floyd?

Re: So who do we draft?
5 O-Lineman.
|
Re: So who do we draft?
If we end up with the number one pick in the draft, do we pick up a qb or trade down? That will certainly be the question.

Re: So who do we draft?
Let us look at the state of affairs first off
1. Tennessee Titans: 2-9 (.514 SOS) 2. Cleveland Browns: 2-8 (.511 strength of schedule) 3. Baltimore Ravens: 3-7 (.500 SOS) 4. Dallas Cowboys: 3-8 (.523 SOS) 5. San Diego Chargers: 3-8 (.529 SOS) 6. San Francisco 49ers: 3-8 (.534 SOS) 7. Miami Dolphins: 4-7 (.474 SOS) 8. Jacksonville Jaguars: 4-7 (.486 SOS) 9. Philadelphia Eagles: 4-7 (.511 SOS) 10. St. Louis Rams: 4-7 (.517 SOS) 11. New Orleans Saints: 4-7 (.523 SOS) 12. Detroit Lions: 4-7 (.528 SOS) 12. Detroit Lions: 4-7 (.528 SOS) How bad of a melt down do you really think this will be? we have these teams left to play panthers bucs Lions Jags falcons Kiss the top 4 prospect good bye IMO. So here is my short dream list and Each one fills a need Jalen Ramsey, CB, Florida State, 6005, 202, 4.49 Jaylon Smith OLB Noter Dame 6025 240 4.67 Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame 6055 315 5.17 Conner Cook QB Michigan St. 6042 220 4.89 I am not completely sold on are Robert Nkemdiche Vernon Hargreaves III Laquon Treadwell After that it is drafting as usual. Good thing this year there does not appear to be a huge drop of till about the middle of the second so the saints should walk away with two starters easy but i still have these players as pipe dreams for the saints. The bandwagon is not on fire |
Re: So who do we draft?
I want Sebastian Johansson from Marshall in the later rounds, and yes, I am a Sweden homer!
HERDZONE.COM :: Official Athletic Site of Marshall Thundering Herd :: Football This you tube clip shows a pretty special game. First time two Swedes faced each other in a FBS game. The LT for Purdue #75 is Swedish and so is Johansson #71 the LG for Marshall. |
Re: So who do we draft?
-- trade the pick for an affordable, solid offensive linemen + a lower pick.
-- trade the next pick for the best available free agent defensive lineman or Linebacker + a lower pick. I dont care which-- but whoever is the best pure football player. -- trade the next pick for a proven possession receiver + a lower pick. -- use the remaining picks on LSU players & guys with either phenomenal stats, or guys who were beasts in college at any position. --these are the picks you can take a chance on, with someone who is a question mark, without mortgaging the future. Lets be good at something. |
Re: So who do we draft?
The people in charge of scouting talent couldn't/wouldn't pick the right people if they held every pick in the draft.
|
Re: So who do we draft?
|
Re: So who do we draft?
Screw it! Trade our draft picks for great coaches. Talent is nothing if it isn't developed. Even Browner's going to make the pro bowl somewhere else once he's done with the lack of coaching here.
|
Re: So who do we draft?
where is Bobby Bouche predicted to go this year?
|
Re: So who do we draft?
(1) - acquire more talent through the draft. I would only look at trades if it involves us getting another draft pick.
At this point we need to come to grips with who we are and start building exclusively through the draft going forward. |
Re: So who do we draft?
Get Anthony some help. Dude will never fulfill his potential if he keeps playing alongside Hawthorne, Humber and fragile Ellerbe...
