this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; In 2008 we had Josh Bullocks and Kevin Kaesviharn starting at safety for us, it was terrible. We also had roughly 15 players on IR, I can remember them dropping like flies. I think our real missed opportunities were 2010 ...

We also had roughly 15 players on IR, I can remember them dropping like flies. I think our real missed opportunities were 2010 and 2011, we had the Superbowl team right there ready. In 2010 we lost to the only team ever to make the playoffs with a losing record. In 2011, our record setting Offense turned the ball over 5 times in the first half whilst the D clamped down, in the second half the offense came alive and the defense crumbled, couldn't stop Alex Smith who had barely completed a pass all day. |

I wouldn't be too sure about that. The Giants were playing out of their minds in the playoffs. They got past San Francisco when we couldn't and their defense wasn't any better than ours.

True, but had we beaten SF, the Giants would have to come back to New Orleans to play us at home....we were unbeaten at home. I favoured our chances greatly.

But that's my point. We didn't beat San Fran and they did. And they played them in San Fran's stadium. Their defense wasn't any better than our, as a matter of fact it was a little worse. I'm not so sure the Saints would have beaten the Giants.
