Defense Drafting
i hear the ravens D referred to like it has some inherent strength just cuz they are badasses. truth is, they have infused some great strength into the team via the draft year after year. i looked at this in consideration of the of the saints continuous decline in defense from 11th to 32nd in haslett's tenure.
what if's of course, but just consider them- 2003- sullivan picked over defensive rookie of the year terrell suggs (marcus trufant for that matter) 2002- stallworth picked over human highlight machine ed reed 2001- ravens pick solid cb gary baxter in 2nd 1999- the rickey year. skins picked champ bailey in the traded spot. all everything chris mcalister was just after that for the ravens. |

Excellent post.
Often though it\'s a couple of years down the road before you can see how a particular play pans out. So let look to the 2005 draft then: What\'s the greatest need? Who\'s the best player that we can pick, or even better move up to? Why don\'t we have a good player personnel guy? Was Randy Mueller involved in the Sullivan debacle? SFIAH |

It\'s called having good scouts and management. Something we lack. Not to mention that Ray Lewis makes everyone on that team better.
