Re: Is age really the reason?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Brees. Our offensive line hurts his performance and the fact that we dont have the targets we use to have does too. Our receivers were never great players but Brees made them look that way. The difference between then and now is that back in the SB days we had receivers who complimented each other very well. We had a receiver for every job who did that job very well. A field stretcher in Henderson, big Colston in his prime, Lance who was a good route runner and possetion guy. Payton played all those guys to their strenghts. We dont have that now.
If we get one very good/ elite receiver Drew can still play at a high level for two more years. He was accurate enough back in the day to mask the deficiancies of some of our receivers. As he ages he is going to lose a little accuracy but an elite receiver can compensate for that.

Extend him, draft a receiver in the first this year (for the love of god not a utility guy but a legit wide receiver), and depending on Grayson draft a future QB in the first of 2017 draft.

After receiver go guard and Oline then pass rusher and help up front. I think we finally have LB sewed up and our secondary believe it or not is a very talented bunch minus Browner.

There simply isnt a better option at QB in the immediete future.

I'm not saying the offense doesn't have problems but it could be a lot worse.

This is not the same offense we have seen in years past. And, numbers don't tell the story. First off, we are used to being first or second in those categories. Our receivers have sucked.

And today showed. Three years ago that would be 38-17.

The Saints won TODAY! As the first rule of Italian driving states "What's behind me is not important!"

We used to have one of the best offenses the NFL has ever had to offer. If you guys think thats how it should be all the time you are crazy. Most teams would kill for the offense we have right now. Yea they have their problems but there are probably 10 teams out there with more offensive talent who are fielding way worse offenses than we are.
You cant be number 1 every year. Top 10 with a middle of the pack but opportunistic defense, good coaching, and discipline can put you in the playoffs most every year.

I don't think that style will get us to the sb^
