New Orleans Saints waive defensive end Phillip Hunt

The New Orleans Saints waived veteran defensive end Phillip Hunt on Tuesday, according to the NFL transactions wire.

Hunt was signed by the Saints on Nov. 23 but never played in a game.

Hunt's release gives the Saints one opening on the 53-man roster. Another could be created when cornerback Damian Swann is placed on the injured reserve list.
