Correct.
And players will do what they can to perform to their best. Albeit there are some players who have lesser capabilities to contribute to a team's success.But that is not under the player's control really, is it. If there is any suspicion of persons trying to ensure losses, that has to come from those who can manipulate the team, a far greater entity than an individual. i.e. coaches and their bosses.

So, it's acceptable for WINNERS to tank, but not for LOSERS to tank.

Winning our next two games is not in our best interest.
