Line / QB

If we're going to keep Brees (and I hope we do), we've got to upgrade the OL or he's not going to make 37 |

Re: Line / QB
Agree. We need two starters at guard position (at RG Evans is done). Peat plays to high for guard and has slow footwork for RT. (never liked this pick) Has to improve tremendously to start at RT.

THERE IS NO WAY I see us trading Brees at his contract and at his age. I just don't see it happening. Bree's is going to ride this wagon until the wheels come off or he retires a Saint. Have his own Parade down Canal.

Re: Line / QB
Totally agree. We are a different team offensively when Brees has protection. Strief, Evans and our carousel LG spot all need to be upgraded. We have to address these with FA and the draft. We have a lot of holes to fill but with the right talent evaluation we can do it on the cheap. I was impressed with both the draft and FA last year with a couple exceptions. Good picks (I still believe Peat will improve) and some of the FA choices were solid like Unger and Ellerbe. Browner was a disaster and Wilson wasn't far behind.

Re: Line / QB
Payton was the same age when he went to Denver. A really good O-line gave him 2 more really good years and almost a Super Bowl appearance. Drew can do the same here. Peat played well at OG. As for him playing high; he is 6 foot 7 for goodness sakes. Keep him at OG and spend our early rd 1 on Laremy Tunsil to play RT. Rd 2 could be spent on a OG like Germaine Ifedi. Defense can be built through rounds 3-7.

Re: Line / QB
We went into the year needing to fill both guard positons and we'll go into next year needing to fill these two spots. Peat will be fine at RT. Didn't he play LT in college and is making the transition to RT(oh, and to LG)? He is still very young and will get better with time and experience while being in an NFL conditioning program.
We also need depth because Kelmete(calamity) and Lelito aren't cutting the mustard. Lelito really pulled the wool over Payton's eyes......you could tell that Payton had high expectations for Lelito and it just hasn't panned out. It's hard to build a roster with UDFA's and expect better results. |
