The lack of snaps for two of the New Orleans Saints' top three 2015 NFL draft picks stood out most from the team's 35-27 loss to Detroit on Monday.
Defensively, linebacker Hau'oli Kikaha didn't play much at all with the Saints playing a slew of nickel defensive snaps. The second-round pick only took 10 defensive snaps (19 percent) in the Lions loss. Kikaha's role has changed since defensive coordinator Dennis Allen took over the unit after Week 10. Yet Kikaha created the only takeaway of the game with a forced fumble and recovery on the Lions' Ameer Abdullah. read more |

Re: Andrus Peat, Hau'oli Kikaha see snap counts drop in Saints' loss vs. Lions
And Kikaha still had a forced and recovered fumble in the game. This guy does need to learn still but there is no question he is a football player with a nose for big plays.

No idea why we've stopped using Kikaha as a DE. Seems to me that his best role would be nickel and dime DE.

Monday nights snap count was spread around a lot more than usual and our other rookies got valuable playing time while still fielding a competitive team. Davison played a larger part of the game plan than usual as did several other young players who performed fairly well. |
