New Orleans Saints
Don’t be fooled by the late surge made by the Saints this season. This is a team with a lot of issues to address. Is Aaron Brooks really the answer at quarterback? His immaturity answers that question all too often. I just have doubts on whether he can lead the Saints through the playoffs, especially since he’s failed to get them to the playoffs. Deuce McAllister must challenge himself to a strong off-season of conditioning to return at full peak for training camp. On defense, the top question is what to do with free agent Darren Howard. He’s been their most reliable defensive player the past few years and leader in the locker room. But the Saints drafted Will Smith last spring and have Charles Grant at the other end spot. The Saints might again have to invest another draft pick or free agent dollars towards an impact defensive tackle because Jonathan Sullivan crashed and burned last season. New Orleans must also look at their linebackers. They have a few young players they would like to build around in Courtney Watson, Cie Grant, and Colby Bockwoldt. Even James Allen played the best football of his career. But the Saints need a consistent playmaker here. http://www.ourlads.com/ColumnJan16.html |
