Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

been a while since i've posted on here fellas, but this would be lovely....

FANSPEAK:

two trades were performed:

trade down in the 1st.
NYJets proposed a trade & of course id love to pick up some extra selections.
swapped 1st rounders & received the Jets Round 2(20) & 3(20).

trade up in the 2nd.
swapped 2nd rounders with Jacksonville & gave up our 3rd rounder(Pick 15)

results:

R1P20 - WR, Josh Doctson - TCU
R2P07 - DT, Vernon Butler - Louisiana Tech
R2P20 - DE, Bronson Kaufusi - BYU
R3P20 - OG, Joshua Garnett - Stanford
R4P14 - DL, Adam Gotsis - Georgia Tech
R5P13 - OLB, Joe Schobert - Wisconsin
R7P16 - S, Justin Simmons - Boston College

would be crazy! some of these outcomes are very realistic, but Justin Simmons doesn't go in the 7th. & i believe if Butler doesn't go in the 1st he doesn't get out of the top 5 picks in the 2nd. high chance Tennessee takes him at the top of the 2nd. just my thoughts.

Also, I think Gotsis goes higher and I don't believe the Jets give up the 3rd as well, maybe a 5th at most if they give up any extra picks at all besides the 2nd

The Saints weren't listed among the teams that attended the Utah State Pro Day...but they're bringing in LB Nick Vigil...

Small School Star Justin Zimmer Might Be The Most Athletic 300-Pound Prospect in NFL History

If the NFL drafted players in order of pure athleticism, Justin Zimmer might be the first overall pick.

A 6-foot-2, 302-pound defensive tackle from Ferris State University, Zimmer wasn't invited to the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine. Instead, the under-the-radar prospect attended both the Houston Regional Combine and the University of Michigan Pro Day. In both events, he posted absolutely mind-boggling numbers for a 300+-pound human being.

Zimmer's amazing results included a 4.85 40-Yard Dash, a 33.5-inch Vertical Jump, a 7.01 3-Cone Drill and a 9-foot-9 Broad Jump. To top it all off, he also recorded a beastly 44 reps on the Bench Press. It's difficult to quantify exactly how impressive these numbers are, but a tool called Relative Athletic Score (RAS) might be a good start.

It might be tempting to categorize Zimmer as a workout warrior, but his on-field numbers were also incredibly impressive. Last season, he led his team in tackles (81), sacks (13), tackles for loss (26) and forced fumbles (four). True, he posted those stats against D-II competition, but that type of production from a defensive tackle is extraordinary at any level. Zimmer reportedly trained for his pre-draft workouts at Michael Johnson Performance in McKinney, Texas, a facility with a strong history of turning out athletes with solid Combine showings.

In addition to his great numbers in the standard Combine events, Zimmer also has a Squat max of 615 pounds and a Hang Clean max of 405 pounds. Though he's not yet a household name, Zimmer could prove to be a steal in the middle to late rounds of the 2016 Draft. Check out his senior year highlights here.

NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt wrote that, on the whole, "Zimmer had a great workout at the [P]ro [D]ay, and could be a free-agent possibility for a team following the draft." TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline pegged him as a potential sleeper in early January.

Hagan, your post is yet another example of how deep this draft is at 3-tech defensive tackle and why we don't have to default our first round pick to same...

Damn. Good find Hagan...hadn't heard of him & i already have a top 200+ board. I agree with jeanpierre, couldn't be more accurate. Id like a WR in rounds 1 or 2, a guard in 4 or 5, but four picks defense need to be on defense

2016 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Alabama DL A’Shawn Robinson | The Draft Wire

Weaknesses
  • Lacks flexibility and bend in his lower half
  • Inconsistent get-off, will often be last defender off the ball
  • Not an explosive athlete, speed-to-power conversion hurt greatly by lack of burst off the snap
  • Way too upright off the ball, gets leveraged consistently and can’t generate push
  • No violent hand usage to speak of, could be a lack of development
  • Pass rush moves are non-existent, no hand swat, spin, grip/rip, swim, anything
  • Inactive/robotic upper half allows him to be blocked easily
  • Struggles to diagnose quickly, often pursues misdirections with several false steps, difficulty locating the ball
  • Not a naturally instinctive player, wins with natural power only
  • Didn’t beat a double team once on tape, completely overwhelmed by them
  • Poor motor, will give minimal effort on passing downs and very little in pursuit
  • Content with battling to a stalemate and simply holding ground
  • Conditioning may be a question

Don't we already have this?!? And we want to spend a first round pick on this?!?

WR Moritz Boehringer, Schwabisch Hall Unicorns (Germany, GFL2); Height: 6' 4"; Weight: 227 lbs.

TESTBOEHRINGERRANK AMONG WRS IN 2016 CLASS

Broad jump10 ft, 11 inT-2
20-yard shuttle4.10 sec4
Three-cone6.65 secT-3

Moritz' measurables certainly look like that have a receiver who we just retired...

Wonder if he made it onto the Saints radar since we've been signing quarterbacks who'd played there?!?

Thank you for saying this, im just not a fan. & while we're being honest...this may be against the grain, but im not a fan of drafting Deion Jones before the 3rd/4th. The testing numbers are all good & nice but it just doesnt transfer to the tape. Theres flashes but the alabama tape & several others just aren't great to me. Gets bullied too often & the coverage skills were just average. I dont see 4.3/4.4 speed anywhere on tape either, its not like the complaints ppl have with Treadwell either, sure treadwell ran slow while not being the biggest possession wr, but his tape shows the opposite which doesn't make it a concern imo. In the end tape trumps all.
